When I first bought Strike Fighters, I was impressed. It was an amazing game - many thanks to Thirdwire and Strategy First. However, I was disgusted with the fact that the campaign game centered around "Fictional Arab Country A" attacking "Fictional Arab Country B." The first day that I owned Strike Fighters, I dedicated myself to create a realistic campaign.

This is a complete mod to the original Strike Fighters "Burning Sands" campaign. No more will you have to defend a fictional Arab country from another fictional country. The game map happens to look somewhat like the coast of North Africa, so I decided to set the records straight.

- Dhimar is replaced with the United Kingdom of Libya (the pro-Western predecessor to Qhadaffi's regime)

- Paran is replaced with the Arab Republic of Egypt

- Several locations renamed in light of nation change

- Updated Libyan roundel

- New, flyable squadrons from NATO - one each from the RAF, France, W. Germany, and Italy

- Libya (Dhimar) now has only one squadron, made up of A-1s

- Mercenaries now called the "Foreign Volunteer Squadron" in the Libyan Air Force

- Mercenary insignia and fin flash are Royal Libyan

- New aircraft: F-4J (the naval version of the F-4E)

- New skin set: Libyan A-1H

More to come...

Oustanding, shipmate! I am SO looking forward to your new addition!

I was onboard the USS Independence for two deployments, when we used to play cat and mouse with Khaddafy baby. I was with an A-& squadron, VA-15.

Chief, I was on the Indy too...1977-79, 4th Div in charge of the fantail, then went to boats in the 3rd.Div. Made a Med cruise on her. Went to Rota and Mallorca, Spain, Suda Bay, Crete, Hiafa, Is., Toulon and Marsielles, France, Palermo, Sicily, Athens, Greece, and of course genoa and naples, Italy. My son was born while I was away. Never forget homecoming and seein him for the firsttime... Kept singin "gotta see the lights of Tucson" all the way home to the states...

Eagle, let me just toss in another voice of thanks and appreciation for the work you're putting into this. I'll be anxiously awaiting this campaign's release---assuming that you've given the mighty F-104 its rightful place in the center spotlight. :D

Silliness aside, the "reality quotient" of the campaign certainly looks to be attractive, and it's a good step forward for the game itself. Assuming that Cuban campaign goes well, it'll be a good download to boot. I suppose that if one based Starfighters at MacDill or some other southern Florida AFB, they could conceivably get to Cuba for a few minutes of fun in Uncle Fidel's socialist paradise. Of course, the Navy could always loan the much-needed Starfighter squadrons some ramp space at Guantanamo Bay, unless the Marines needed it, or something. Naah, y'think? :D

Thanks for your work, to all concerned.

Jeez, it's like watching something from Thirteen Days! Of course, that might make a great thing to view before playing the campaign, all with the eye on putting oneself in the proper frame of mind. It'd be nifty if instead of the AM rock 'n roll, you could have a John Kennedy speech or statement being played on the radio. It'd add atmosphere for a couple of seconds, if nothing else.

Being able to scribble on my bombs would be nifty: "FULGENCIO SENDS HIS REGARDS" or "THE REAL WASHINGTON SENATORS PASS ON SIGNING CASTRO". OK, so maybe they're not comical, but they'd be ironically funny. :)

Sounds great Eagle. Looking forward to it. Maybe I will get off my duff and build another campaign after test for TSgt. I got some great info how to have missions every 2 days and instead of every few months.
