column5 Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Due to the strong response to NATO Fighters, I am proceeding with further expansion packs. Next up will be NATO Fighters II, which will further round out the available planset in Wings Over Europe, and add some additional ground objects. Included in this pack will be... Ground Objects -------------- SA-3 Goa SA-9 Gaskin M1A1 Abrams Tank Aircraft -------- CF-5A Freedom Fighter Jaguar GR.1 MiG-23ML (Adversary) OV-10A (FAC Only) Su-15A (Adversary) Tornado GR.1A Yak-25M (Adversary) Yak-28B (Adversary) And perhaps a surprise? Stay tuned... The pack will also address a small bug in NATO Fighters. As usual, all new aircraft and objects will be fully integrated with the campaigns, and installation will be simple, requiring no modding or file editing. Coming soon! Quote
+Zurawski Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I'm with USAFMTL on this... Your first release was top-notch... Really looking forward to this one too. Thanks for your efforts! Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Going to play release one in moments, but I already thinks this one will be great. Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 (edited) Btw, can we NOW get a Swedish Squadron? Or maybe a Norwegian Squadron. Norway had an Important role in the 1985 book "red storm rising" featuring a Soviet invasion. Suggestion for Norway Squadrons includes: Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter (25th Recon Squadron) Canadair CF-104 Starfighter (4th Figther Wing) Republic RF-84F Thunderflash (7th Attack Wing) Suggestions for Swedish Squadrons: SAAB 29 "Tunnan" (Fighter Wing 19 - F19) SAAB 35 "Draken" (Figther Wing 10 - F10) Suggestions for New Danish Squadron: SAAB 35 Draken (ESK 725) SAAB 35 Draken (ESK 729) Edited October 14, 2006 by tigertompa Quote
+TexMurphy Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Yes please add Draken squadrons to the Danish Airforce. Would be even more awsome if you could add Swedish squadrons but since sweden isnt nato Id understand the decission not too. But I would sooo love to see Tunnan, Draken and Viggen more incorporated into the game. Thanks in advance Tex Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 (edited) Due to the fact that Sweden would not pose that large of a threath to Soviet, but still have a NATO Friendly goverment, it is not likeley that Sweden would be able to stay out of the war. column5 Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 The desire for Swedish and Norwegan squadrons is duly noted. ;) I'll see what I can do about adding some in an upcoming pack. Here are the final release notes for NF2. It will be released after a final QA check. NATO Fighters II ---------------- IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS You MUST follow these steps to properly install NATO Fighers II. 1. NATO Fighters II (NF2) requires that you already have WOE: NATO Fighters (NF1) installed. Refer to the readme that came with NF1 for more information. 2. It is strongly recommended that you finish any campaigns you are currently playing BEFORE installing NF2. It is possible that existing campaigns could become corrupted if you install NF2 while you are still playing them. 3. Run the executable included in the archive you downloaded. When prompted, ensure that the installation path is pointing towards your NF1 installation. When the path is correct, continue the installtion. 4. That's it! Everything is installed automatically and no modding is required. Description ----------- Thanks for downloading NATO Fighters II! +TexMurphy Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Another request... Could you please build it on one of the "semi official" weapon packs... the compatibility of NF1 with the weapons pack was quite bad... Tex Quote
column5 Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Another request... Could you please build it on one of the "semi official" weapon packs... the compatibility of NF1 with the weapons pack was quite bad... Tex That request I cannot fulfill. These are designed to be stand alone packs not requiring any additional modding. The weapons pack is too large to include, and includes far too many weapons that are irrelevant to the setting. Quote
+TexMurphy Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I see your point about the overall size. What I did with NF1 was that I had copied my moded weapons dir and after install of NF1 replaced the weapons dir with the dir including the weapons pack. Worked for me but do you think you could include instructions on how to combine NFX and weapons packs? I might be wrong but I would guess that this is the biggest compatibility issue towards other mods. Thanks Tex Quote

I might be wrong but I would guess that this is the biggest compatibility issue towards other mods. Thanks Tex Hmmm...not a bad idea to include instructions on how to do it. I'll have to consider that--the only problem is that I've specifically tailored the aircraft included in the pack to the weapons included in the pack. Some weapons and/or loadouts will no doubt be affected. I suppose it shouldn't be a big deal if a person doesn't mid doing a little tweaking to make things work. Quote
+TexMurphy Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) I dont mind the tweakin I just want to be able to have the weapons pack and NFX mods because what that gives me is the possiblity to fly what ever planes I choose to download and the NFX campaings. NFX is the best mod out there as it does wonders for the campaing experience of the game. Though still one of the beauties of the SFP1 series is the number of planes one can fly. Hence my sudgestion that I thought it would be great to base it on the weapons pack as then the NFX mods would be so much more compatible with the rest of the mods. Alternativly you could do it so that the mod is based of a "Weapons pack light" meaning that you do it of the pack but then remove everythign you dont use from the build. This way installing the weapons mod after the NFX mod wouldnt hurt anything. Thanks for the great work. Tex Edited October 18, 2006 by TexMurphy Quote
