+quack74 329 Posted July 20, 2009 The Aviatik D.I would be great since there are some Austrian Front planes now  . If anyone is up for the task of making the model I'm up for doing as many skins as I can for it

+quack74 329 Posted August 28, 2009 Let me at it! I've been waiting for this one. Lots of skins in mind. My triplanes need to escort something.
+sinbad 27 Posted August 28, 2009 This is a flyable plane. FM by Peter01. Here's the cockpit WIP. Not quite the way I want it yet. Still need LODs and damage files. Also working on 1B2 variant.
+sinbad 27 Posted August 29, 2009 The cockpit is getting better. More skins nearly done.
+quack74 329 Posted August 30, 2009 I see you're doing your own skins for it. Very cool. Nothing would need to be done then. Just install and play. Are you going to make generic squadron skins or just personal skins.
Southside Bucky 1 Posted August 31, 2009 WOAH! It's looking utterly magnificent Sinbad! I only just noticed this...Ten days after your first post about it! Quack, I think you'll be able to find a few colour schemes that Sinbad won't include...
+sinbad 27 Posted September 11, 2009 Thanks Bucky, it's nice to know this sometimes tedious effort is appreciated. The project started back in March but there were interruptions. Now that Laton is pitching in there is no doubt we will be able to release this bird. For a while I was totally stuck as my version of the software would not open the 3dMax files I inherited from Dagaith (who in now in the army). There were only a few things to do, most important being the distance LODs, and Laton did those before he went on his Honeymoon. For some reason I haven't heard much from him lately -- ;) I did a nearly total overhaul of the cockpit, which now is complete. The rest involved converting the skin packages from 2048 x 2048 down to 512 x 512. Dagaith started in that size to maximize quality and we both continued along for some time with no real thought given to converting down to standard size. Downsizing has proved to be a bit challenging. Much of the original detail was lost when the files were simply reduced, even with rasterized smart images. Consequently, the standard size skins I am making ready for release are virtually total makeovers, with significant use of decals to preserve some of the nicer bits. Frame rates are quite good, at least on my rig. I now have four Belgian Strutters done in 512 and will soon have squadron sets filled out. Then I'll rework the British and French counterparts (which were originally done in 2048 x 2048). Those will include at least the 2 seat observation versions and perhaps a few of the 1B2 two seat bomber type which were produced by the French. I need to look at adapting a bomb sight, and there a few of bits to be worked though on that model. The one seat bombers and the "Comic" Home Defense version will have to wait for Laton to massage the files in 3dMax. Dagaith put an huge amount of effort into this project and was determined to get the best quality possible on both the model and the skin sets before release. I promised him I would follow his mandate. Meanwhile, here are a few more screenies. All are based on photos on on the Belgian Air Service site of some of the the hand me down aircraft they got from the British.

+sinbad 27 Posted September 18, 2009 The Belgian and British Strutter sets for the model 9400 series Strutters are done. I hope to finish the French set this weekend. I need to release them at the same time to avoid fuss, cuss and grumbling because they all will run with a universal decal set. Meanwhile, here's B Flight 43 Squadron, Frederick Libby and friends, ready to go --
Southside Bucky 1 Posted September 18, 2009 Pukka!...That's the best news I've had for a good few days, and no error! Thanks for the update Sinbad.
+quack74 329 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) That's awsome! They look great! Cant wait to shoot them down . The skins look amazing. Definitely an essential WWI aircraft. That rear gunner looks awsome. Looks like he means business. He looks like he cant wait to shoot me down Too bad some older models dont have this gunner. Like the Gotha GIV, and F2b.and others. +sinbad 27 Posted September 20, 2009 Some of the 9400 Series are out for Beta testing, but there is no way to get a release out this weekend. Believe me I want this done, finished, out the door, off my screen . . . I really should know better than to predict when something will be done. At this stage, tweaking, even the little bits, is like the Sorcerers' Apprentice hunting down the broomsticks as the water rises.

Wrench 9,882 Posted November 11, 2010 maricio: I'm working one expanding the targets ini, when it's done, you want the new objects and targets/types inis? (or I can wait, and make adjustment based on your changes. BTW, I removed one aerodrome in Spain -algercis?- and moved it the Gib's runway historical location. Also added docked ships to some of the ports. having a hell of a time getting the truck/Ground Attack routes working...they're plotted exactly, but never show up!! Or when you fly the mission, aren't anywhere close to where they should be. Quite odd ... as I've done this (literally!) a few hundred times on other terrrains, and they work fine! Also, reworking the WW2 Palestine map for WW1 usage (will require the 08 or SF2 Desert cat to work in FE2, however) wrench kevin stein
mauricepiesligeros 30 Posted November 11, 2010 Hi Kevin! Well, I'm using this terrain to learn how to make ".tod" files totally original and personalized. I have not made any change on the terrain. I have not been able to open it using the terrain editor... To make the ".tod" files I'm using a "trick". Now the tiles are almost complete for farms, forests and desert areas. In short, where there is a farm (in tile) I have located a farm, and where there is a tree, I have located a tree. This week I hope to make parts for the cities. These are the most contentious .... (You know, homes bury the other 3D elements ...) To avoid this we can arrange any area in the city tiles where I will not put buildings and reserve them for other models. Alternatively, wait a few days, I just try not to put too many buildings in the cities ... so, you'll have places to put the targets. If you want I can send ".tod" files (via PM) so that you can work, and both works are coordinated. That way, if you need changes, you can ask, ok? mauricepiesligeros Iñaki. Wrench 9,882 Posted November 11, 2010 I was trying to import it into the WoV/E/I TE, got the texture set rebuilt, but for some reason the ocean isn't showing (the empty sea bits, but most of the costal tiles/transitions are. if you want, go ahead and send me the TODs. At worst, each of the city building that Stary laid out have to me moved. wrench kevin stein

Bob1182 0 Posted May 14, 2012 Hi everyone, I know nothing about computer designing or graphics, but if I did, I would make a WWI combat flight simulation game with the simplicity of 1918: First Eagles and FE2 has in flight control. Such as taking-off and landing. I would have the variety in choosing planes, such as Rise Of Flight. I think tjete should be more ground activity. For once, I would like to see people, horses, automobiles, and so on. The battlefield trenches should have soldiers in it that you can see as they try to shoot you down as strafe them. When you go on baloon busting missions; just before the baloon explodes, you should be able to see the observer jump from the baloon in his parachute.I would also like to be able to fly a L2 Zeppelin and have the option of being a machine gunner at one of several stations on the zeppelin. Finally, I would want the option to play online or not which you don't have in FE2. The one more thing I hate about First Eagles 2 is that you cannot choose rockets, ONLY bombs, unless you or a friend knows how to mod it. The other thing I hate about FE2, is that when I'm flying the airplane out of cockpit view and in shoulder view, all of a sudden I get multiple angles of the airplane I'm trying to fly which in some cases makes me crash. So, my dream of a great WWI combat fligjt simulation game would be a hybrid f RISE OF FLIGHT graphics, variety of airplanes, and multiplayer option combined with FIRST EAGLES 2 ease of flight controls and sound feedback, and peppered with some of my own ideas. I really wish I knew how to make PC video games.
