I'm having fun with this one. Those short strips don't leave much room for error. Imagine an aborted takeoff...

All is well except that my wingmen (AV8) seem to fly into the ground a lot, more than in previous incarnations of the Kreelin Harrier. Any ideas?

I have seen that 2 or 3 times.

I changed their default loadouts, so they're heavier now. This is Kreelin's latest FM, but it was done prior to the game having the ability to specify AI data for a particular aircraft type.

I'll add those entries, and play around with the values to see if I can keep it from happening.

The Su-17's occasionally have the same issue.

Thanks for the input.

Parani Il-28 does not bear any marks in my games.

By the way, I'have installed Polak's tiles and want to remove them. Any suggestions?

I'm working on a desert camo skin for the Il-28.

You should just be able to delete Polak's tiles from the terrain folder. The campaign didn't come with any terrain tiles, so there's nothing that you over-wrote.

As Aggie said... The default loadouts are heavier now.

And unfortunately AIs don't use thrust vector so....

Thanks guys, it would be nice to see the squadron survive longer. I went MIA after mission 3 in my first campaign. In the second, the first mission was CAS and all 3 wingmen hit the dirt after taking out a few tanks. Didn't even stop to say "Two, I'm out of ammo".

Awesome campaign thus far.Im really liking it.Dip the nozzles a little and STO.My 2nd mission was a CAP and I was dismayed to see the primary targets were 2 Mig-25's.I knew we were in for a challenge but the migs stood off at about 10 miles and kept their distance from my flight and at about 100kts faster then we could go so there was no way to intercept.Win some lose some I guess.LOL

OK, I flew a mission with the new FM and no AI pilots suffered a CFIT. Unfortunately two were shot down and one collided with me on the threshold as I was doing a vertical landing. Incredibly, all were on the roster fit & well for the next mission, though we lost 3 AV8s and one damaged. If anything I found the new FM more difficult in the vertical regime, it seems to be more sensitive in pitch.

Also, for Aggie: the FAC seems to be an unmarked grey F4 (some kind of secret CIA outfit?)

crl848,

The only way to prevent that is to remove all the other stock aircraft, not used in the campaign, from your Aircraft folder. There's a variable in the campaign.dll to specify the FAC aircraft, but the game doesn't listen. It will randomly pick any aircraft that has FAC defined in it's capability list. You could also edit out FAC from all their _data.ini's.

I have them all removed, and I get one of 3 FAC aircraft: USMC Bronco, Dhimar A-4E, Dhimar F-4D, all with proper skins.

I suggest just going out in 2-ships. Without editing the campaign_data.ini, you only have 8 pilots and 6 AV-8C's to make it through 30 missions. There is a bug in the game that allows you to put an aircraft in the air for every pilot you have, even if you don't have that many aircraft.

Kreelin,

I agree that's it's more difficult to bring into a hover and land.

Also, at 12k feet, I sent my wingman after a MiG. Within a few moments he got himself into a slow, flat spin, with about 10 deg nose down. I watched him not recover all the way down to the ground.

Aggie, that's a good idea. Sorry if I didn't read the readme

Akwar,

Do you mean CVN68? That is the carrier used in this campaign.

I can't duplicate your problem with any of the naval squadrons. Have you done anything to your Strike Fighters install besides install the Harrier Campaign executable?

Are you sure you're patched to the latest? Does it say v08.30.07 in the bottom right corner of your mainscreen?

You can always run the executable again on the existing install.

Can anyone else confirm the issue, or confirm that it works? I play this campaign as a Tomcat as much as I do a Harrier.

Please disregard and thanks for the help,

I see what the problem was.It did not install the carrier data files in ground objects but instead installed them in the objects folder.I dragged them into groundobjects and the carriers work as they should now.Thanks.

Glad you got it working.

I still can't duplicate it however.

I ran the installer on a temp directory, and it did place the CVN68 inside the GroundObject folder, not the Objects folder.

I have a question.Everything is working great in the campaign but I notice in the weapon inventory for the harrier squadrons the LAU rocket pods. These however don't seem to be an option on the drop down load out menus?

Currently flying a SLUF campaign from the Nimitz and loving it, but got a graphics problem.

I'm getting a lot of screen flicker, disappearing aircraft parts etc whenever I take off from or even fly in the vicinity of the forward operating bases.

I'm flying this in a fresh install - just a fully patched SFG.

My system:

Packard Bell I-Xtreme 2600

P4 2.66ghz

512mb RAM

120gb hard drive

Geforce4

Win XP Pro

Saitek Cyborg Evo

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
