Darrin Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 what plane has been the best sub hunter in the U.S.' arsenal ?
+JediMaster Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 That depends on your definition of "best". Best at what? Most kills? That would mean a WWII-era plane. Best carrier-launched? The S-3B. Best land-based? P-3C Update III. Best helo? One of the Seahawks, the Romeo I think. It all depends on your criteria.
Darrin Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 yeah i was looking for this answer my brother was a sub driver while my dad was airforce and i was looking for the plane that caught the most subs it makes for good dinner table talk thanks -D-
Victory103 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Jedi's right, I'm a former SH-60F guy, but ASW is actually a lost art. Not really much of dinner talk, the AF doesn't fly overwater.

I know the S-3 and P-3 are superb ASW platforms, but my trusty olde E-2 was pretty good as well. We actually caught more subs with the E-2 than we did with either of those.
+JediMaster Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 E-2 has that big ol' radar which sees surface targets at a LONG range.
+Typhoid Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 E-2 has that big ol' radar which sees surface targets at a LONG range. very, very small targets at very, very long ranges......
+JediMaster Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I heard it can see Paris Hilton's chest at 50 miles!!
+Typhoid Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I heard it can see Paris Hilton's chest at 50 miles!! I think a blind man could see that at 100
serverandenforcer Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) I heard it can see Paris Hilton's chest at 50 miles!! Actually, her big feet would give off the radar signature Edited April 13, 2007 by serverandenforcer
