Morane-Saulnier Type L/Pfalz E.III Packs RELEASED

Recommended Posts

Here they are. After a lot of work by the team, I'm proud to announce the release of the

Morane-Saulnier Type L/Pfalz E.III Packs

Available at CombatAce as soon as the upload is done.

A huge thanks v. Deutschmark (skins) & peter01 (FM)

Each pack contains three variants:

Fighter

Observation (O) Two-seater, rear gun

Armed Observation (AO) Two-seater, forward firing & rear guns

TypeL.jpg

PfalzEIII.jpg

*Note the FM"s for the Two-seaters should be considered Beta's. I did some minor tweaks of peter01's work

for the initial release. Final ones will be forthcoming soon.

All aircraft are good for both Normal & Hard FM's & all are equipped for ground attack.

Skinners - included is a set of base templates for you guys to use. All aircraft use the same mapping for the major components so skins are fully interchangeable.

More skins soon from v. Deutschmark

Have fun with them.

Cheers

Laton

WHOOO..guys before you fly these go into the m-s data ini...down to guns, you'll find two hashmarks in front of gun name delete those or you won't have any guns...open up the data ini. for the P EIII and you will find two entrys for Flight control..kill the top one or the game will crash!!!

Now on to better stuff...Laton, these are absolutely wonderful....they're just beautiful, and what a hoot to fly, did a quick turn against a few of Borts Fokker EIIIs..serious cat fight indeed!!!!

What an excellent addition for us early bird junkys....Thank you so much for all your hard work..well worth the wait and then some....darn, now I'm gonna be up all night.. :biggrin: ..and many thanks to v.deutschmark and peter01, great job guys, thank you both.

Woot, man you all have made exactly what I was asking for a while back. These will be great for early war fights. I am DLing these now and will get them into the plane fest campaign and get a new version released this weekend if possible.

Have you flown them against the other early war planes like the n11 and borts planes and the rest?

I am also working on finishing the coding for a FC plane fest in the Flanders map that Edward did such a sweet job on.

Great work people and thank you for all the effort. :clapping:

(S!) All hi ;-)

To ALL, I had British roundels on that RAF plane then my friend Mr. Pearosn

WW1 profile arties told me it was wrong that the only British markings that

Where put on that plane at that time was the rudder and the one on the body

That the wings where left with the French roundels, so I change it to be correct,

Before anyone downloaded it but there are a few photos of it at SimHQ and TW

Website with the British roundels on it, so do not think you are getting the wrong

Thing as I was tolled by higher up that now its right. :biggrin:

No worries Bucky, you're the reason we ended up with 6 variants rather than just 1 (or at least 3).

Thanks for all the comments guys. Glad you like them.

Great work

It seems that the Germans had about 60 Pfalz E.IIIs during 1914/15 and converted their two-seaters to single-seaters during 1915. It was considered to be a stop-gap measure and no more than 8 were ever resent at the front at one time. You might consider changing COMMON in the data.ini to RARE or VERY RARE.

Does anyone know which part of the front the Pfalz served on?

This was mentioned over in the Thirdwire forum re the Pfalz E.III and E.IIIAO

As released the tracers a slightly higher than the gunsight (peronal preference - I find it easier to aim).

If you want them right in the cross-hair you'll need to make the following changes in the _data.ini

[FlightControl]

StallSpeed=16.75

CruiseSpeed=32.18

ClimbSpeed=30.55

CornerSpeed=28.59

MaxG=3.50

MaxSpeedSL=34.76

MachLimit=0.16

PitchDamper=0.60

RollDamper=0.00

YawDamper=0.00

GunBoresightAngle=-1.0 <---- add this line

[internalGun1]

SystemType=FIXED_GUN

GunTypeName=7.92MM_SPANDAU_LMG08/15

InputName=FIRE_PRIMARY_GUN

GunGroup=1

MuzzlePosition=0.0,1.65,0.16

LightPosition=0.0,1.65,0.16

AimAngles=0.0,0.0 ,0.0 <----- change to this 0.0,-1.0,0.0

MaxAmmo=400

EjectShells=TRUE

EjectPosition=0.00,0.85,0.21

EjectVelocity=-1.6,0.0,0.0

MinExtentPosition=0.17,1.66,0.14

MaxExtentPosition=0.12,0.63,0.23

GunFireAnimationID=8

Synchronized=TRUE

Hello,

Not meaning to sound ungrateful, because IMHO these aircraft are a tremendous addition for all of us, sincerely thank you (and here's the but...)

BUT, I took the M-S parasol up in a single mission and inadvertently happened to leave 1916 as the year, and was confronted by 4 Fokker EIV's vs 4 M-S parasols. I thought about ESC'ing the mission, but decided to play through. My wing had altitude advantage, and I ended up downing 3 of the EIV's, an AI wingmate got one, and we lost one M-S. Hard flight model, hard enemy & ammo, but not targeting.

Of course there are a number of factors playing here: we (me & my AI) had energy advantage in dogfight, the enemy AI may not be as active as it could be etc. etc. AND of course it isn't the plane it's the pilot etc... However, while I am aware of dogfight tactics, I do not consider myself well versed or even all that experienced, certainly not like many of you.

Again, I am just trying to be constructive here to achieve a better balance, and it is just my limited opinion from a few missions, but I shouldn't have been able to down 3 EIV's (with the latest revised FM's from Peter I should add) with the stock M-S parasol. Perhaps it is a bit too "zippy" for such an early aircraft...

Hi Bandy,

Zippy is a good word to describe them :lol: but fun tho?

The EIVs (have to say most of mine done for Borts aren't very aggressive AI). I just redid the EIII so I could get decent test dogfights for the Moranes, I'll post this new version shortly.

All the planes are a lil bit too good aren't they? You have to fit in with the rest or most. And doing the early ones is extremely hard, whos done them well for hard FM?

If you were flying the EIVs or any other, you would still have shot down 3 or so of any plane, even the same plane!! - I do, its the AI (not many games use same AI as player planes), and the damage inflicted by the guns (too easy).

Good to hear the wiingman got a kill, the "L"s are very capable AI, not the plane alone at all but rather how the FM was done for the AI.

Cheers

Hi Peter,

Thanks for responding. I enjoy your work and efforts very much, and can sincerely appreciate the void you must find yourself in when trying to model these "early birds".

I often wonder (given the sometimes touchy nature of craftsmen and their labours-of-love...) whether I should bother trying to provide constructive critique, which is totally the spirit of my earlier post, and the positive spirit I hope you have taken those comments in. That said, I'm not sure if you are agreeing with me or not here?

As you mentioned, you revised for your own work an EIII AI flight model and that it might be posted (and is good news!!!), and since I read that, I realised then perhaps it is good to think of this as an organic process, where things can grow to maturity within the community.

Not trying to be too granola here... :biggrin:

The short answer Bandy, is no, I don't agree at all that the Ls are better than the Fokkers performance wise from a player pespective. They may feel that way (they have a light feel), they may be better AI, but, no they are not, I know I did them, and tried especially hard for consistency and upgrades for performance between the early planes up to Nieups. They are very easy meat for EIV/EIII (but decent AI, you don't want them to just dive to the ground? The AI is just as important), and don't even ask about the Halbs/Nieups. :smile:

What you raised tho is really something else I think..... the game itself, overall performance of all planes, and the difficulty of flying planes esp early planes...ie, the universe and all that. This is not the right thread.... I'll post some thoughts to get them off my chest when I make the newer E.III FM available.
