Dagger 21 Posted April 15, 2007 I was just wondering where everyone thinks the story is going next season.
Fubar512 1,350 Posted April 16, 2007 Well, I've noticed that they often play a bit more than just lip-service to somewhat insignificant details from the original series. 1) The music that was heard by Col. Tigh and the three others. may be compared to a scene an in episode from the original series, where footage of Neil Armstrong stepping off the LEM during the Apollo 11 mission, was being picked up by a video receiver on the Galactica (though in that case, it happened while no one was around to see it) 2) If you noticed, when Starbuck appeared in the last episode, her Viper was "pristine"...hell, it was almost bone-white! Also, her uniform appeared to be like-wise light colored. Again, (I believe) a throwback to the original series, when some of the Viper pilots were "abducted" by an alien ship. during the "Count Ibliss affair", and returned with certain knowledge as to the whereabouts of the 13th colony. So, who can tell?
+EricJ 4,276 Posted April 17, 2007 Note that the song was "All along the Watchtower" from Jimi Hendrix (covered by somebody, didn't care too much about the credits after that doozy). I got the old series (packed up, never finished it all) and watched up to... the ice planet, guess I should have pushed through as that part seems interesting. But the thing is to ask, why only them? You could say the Final Five Cylons.. but if that was the case, Baltar would have said something way before. So while on one hand it could be true, on the other hand, with the way the plots go, you never know until they start saying "By your command" or whatever. JediMaster 451 Posted April 17, 2007 Baltar never saw the Final Five. D'Anna did, then she died before she could tell Baltar anything. He tried to follow her, but it didn't work and then Tyrol captured him. He doesn't know. Also, notice how the Four we now know are all people in important positions? The CO's XO, the president's aide, the head of the bays/ships? Only Sam wasn't, although he did for awhile get in with Starbuck. As for where things are going, only Ron Moore seems to know. +EricJ 4,276 Posted April 18, 2007 Ain't that the truth, was kind of a shocker, ol' Tigh a Cylon.... I think Ron Moore & Co. were just cracking up reading the forums on the responses, I know I would be But yeah, that's what makes BSG so good, it's not the FX really, it's the ever changing plot. Once you think you got it nailed, it's a different one.....
Caveman 1 Posted April 18, 2007 wait i'm i to understand that Col Ty is a cromdom???? no.....it can't be
+EricJ 4,276 Posted April 18, 2007 I think so, but the more you sit down and think about it (let't not look at his behaviour.. yet), it just doesn't add up that they are. Sure by some freakish nature they could be (how did Tigh of all people slip through the screening process? Surely Baltar during the trial would have tried to say he was), or it's what Jedi Master said, Baltar didn't see the Final Five but the DNA testing would have proven otherwise. So I think it's a misconception, as the "final five" so far are hooded individuals that we all saw in the season finale, not four indivicuals who think that they are (I mean surely they would have "activated" or whatnot) because they are the only ones to hear the song. But again, Ron Moore has that ability of making one thing seem one way, when it's another. The only way for them to be non-Cylons is some passage in the "scriptures" and of course Starbuck in a clean Viper. Sure it adds up to five, but the thing is, are we sure? No, we have to wait for next season, and that's going to be a minute, so we'll have to wait and see. For all we know, they could be the women that are helping Baltar "to a new life". So many questions....
JediMaster 451 Posted April 19, 2007 Perhaps the Final Five are something altogether new...
+EricJ 4,276 Posted April 21, 2007 More than likely. I mean the Sci-Fi thing said the "final five will be revealed" but it's like saying I'm going to show you a new car. I can cover it up, sure you'll get the overall lines and shape, but you don't see everything, and I'm sticking with my story. Well of course when Season 4 rolls around and I just feel like an idiot when my theory is disproven horribly wrong.
sparkomatic 7 Posted January 14, 2008 Speaking of the old series, they have danced with quite a few of the old story lines, and IMNSHO, have improved dramatically. Sure, there have been a few stinker episodes (like the labor uprising) but they have always recovered well. Next to ATHF, by far my favorite show! And no, not just because of Grace Park (I dont care if she cant act)
JediMaster 451 Posted January 14, 2008 I think the big surprise is how well the cast they got works considering how many are unknowns and some (#6) had never had a speaking acting role before!
sparkomatic 7 Posted January 14, 2008 Ooo...6... * and I am back...great point...for me, I rather like how all of the characters are flawed...so realistic...especially the episode when the Engineering Officer was awarded his own boat, and he sucked...man, I have worked for that guy before, more than once. Kind of why I like CSI, all of the characters are flawed, without that boring anti-hero crap that Americans love to write about, especially in the 70's. I mean, there are a few alcoholics, heck, even Olmos has made bad decisions...that makes it significantly more believable, because unlike 99% of the American stories where the hero always wins, not so GINO/BSG
sparkomatic 7 Posted January 26, 2008 Hey are they going through with Season 4, despite the writers strike? Is any of it filmed in Canada and if so, would that protect it from the writer's strike I know, I know, but I never watch TV (except like stuff on DVD)
JediMaster 451 Posted January 28, 2008 It's totally filmed in Vancouver, but the writers are US based. Anyway, they got half the season done when the strike hit, so I think we will just be seeing the 1st half at this point unless the strike ends very soon (not likely). sparkomatic 7 Posted January 29, 2008 that will be cool...kind of how i was for me when they released half of the season on DVD, then waited forever to drop the second proverbial shoe
JediMaster 451 Posted January 29, 2008 Oh you mean season 2.0 and 2.5? That's because there was a good 4 month gap in the airing of the 2 halves of the season. S3 had only 1 month so they're releasing all of S3 together.
sparkomatic 7 Posted January 29, 2008 Ah, that explains it...thought it was a clever marketing gimmick...kind of like how Lucas will be 25th Anniversary Edition and then 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition...and then 25th Anniversary Collector's Theatrical Release Edition...and then, well you get the idea I remember reading that when Sci-Fi asked them to produce more episodes it was a real burden due to the planned production rate and the increase gave us stories like the Miner's Plight (worst), but then they re-grouped and came up with Scar (but that was too-hollywood for me, but better)
