GreyCap Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Hey folks, Ok, so I just applied the lastest WOV patchs (ahhh, now my flight is dropping it's bombs!) but the interior cockpit view in the A-6A is now way too hazy/dark. Almost looks like the glass is 10 inchs thick, making night flights very hard to see. The exterior views are fine, even the mirrors reflection in the cockpit are fine, and all other aircraft seem to be ok. Hoping there's an easy .INI solution to this! thnks Quote
+Dave Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 You can change one of the tga's to make it more clear. Can't remember what the name of it is called but this is not an ini fix though. The S-3B had the same issue and I just changed the opacity of the front glass and it cured it. Quote

+Dave Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Do you have a paint program like Photoshop and or Paint Shop Pro? Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 You can also move the "glass" out of the way, far below to never be seen. In the A6A cockpit.ini file, add the following to the bottom of the [CockpitSeat001] section... Instrument[045]=Move1 At the bottom of the file, add this... [Move1] Type=AIRSPEED_INDICATOR NodeName=canopy_glass_front MovementType=POSITION_Y Set[01].Position=-100 Set[01].Value=0.0 Set[02].Position=-100 Set[02].Value=1.0 This moves the "glass" 100 meters below the cockpit position. As I eliminated the problem another way, I am assuming this will work. Try it and if more needs to be moved -- say if there is a canopy_glass_left or something, we can find it and drop it. Quote

Ooops sorry i'm late answering my own post, connection problems. Yes that seems like a good idea, but moving the glass would also remove the reflection. :( Quote
GreyCap Posted May 20, 2007 Author Posted May 20, 2007 Do you have a paint program like Photoshop and or Paint Shop Pro? No I don't. And I just downloaded the great F/A-37 Talon, and it's windshield is also hazy. So I really want to find a way around this problem now! Maybe I can find a small freeware program like photoshop, that will modify the .tga? Let's say i have photoshop, what must be done? Also, how do you guys get to the stock aircraft data.ini? I wanted to change the pilot in WOE stock F-15A, but only found one .ini file and a couple decal folders. Thnks! Quote
malibu43 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Anyone ever find a good fix for the A-6 cockpit glass? I tried switching out the canopy.tga with the glass.tga from the skyraider cockpit and that didn't work (I couldn't find another aircraft with a canopy.tga in its folders). I replaced the canopy.tga in the cockpit folder and the individual skin folders, with no luck. I also tried the .ini fix above, but it only moved the front pane of glass, and none of the ones on the side. So, has anyone come up with a fix that correctly addresses the problem? Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Right. There must be more than one glass object to Move. Also try one, or both, of... Instrument[046]=Move2 Instrument[047]=Move3 : : ...and similarly use... [Move2] canopy_glass_sides : : [Move3] canopy_glass_rear : : These additional names are found in the cockpit LOD file with a hex editor. I ought to do a Brain Base thing on this basic subject. Quote

Yep, that did it! I definitely think this would be great in the KB. Thanks! Quote
