Guest Ranger332 Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 heres a preview of some terraine Iam working on its a bit slow as I have to completly recreate and replace each tile of the game :) Quote
fng2k Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 S! Ranger- Looking good! But I just wanted to let you know that TK does plan to release his Terrain Editor app eventually, which will save you lots of time, and help the prevent premature blindness and sleep deprivation caused by manual tile placement. (been there, done that... :D ) I don't know TK's timetable on this, but it's in beta right now, and it's very slick. 8) Code Wizard Keith Bedford and I are also finalizing an adapter utility which will enable the many custom terrain and tiles sets built for European Air Wars by fans to be adapted for use in SF:P1. It will also allow fans to use the Terrain Editor to make new EAW and Gunship maps. More on this over at SimHQ here, and here Here's southern Germany, using SagginB's latest Spring terrain set: And that same map in TK's editor: So stay tuned.... fng Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 hear about that but could never get the editor Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 here are some other things that one may use http://www-public.tu-bs.de:8080/~y0013390/...0/terlinks.html Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 worked late so taking a break just remapped some buildings unless something realy good is mapped will post updates on this thread weekly. Quote
SDirickson Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 Like the sandy runway / taxiways. Is this a Kola Peninsula Campaign? Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 ok If you tired of the same old buildings give um a paint job,but you will need to convert to bmp to use it some of what you will get (also set it at 256x256 24 bit) Quote
DarkPaladin Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 I dont know if you ment to or not, but that ground looks almost EXACTLY like my Alaska, perfect artic rendition, I look forward to this very much, can finaly fly terrain that feels right to me. Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 thank you got the idea form an overhead ( was taken from a c-123 at about 13000 ft) pic I took will training at Fort wainright while attending Northen Warfare School. took the photo converted it to bit map and did the cut and past thinky :) Quote
SDirickson Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 Wait, so where exactly is the terrain based? The Bering Strait? Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 the pic was taken near the northen Warfare center in Alaska some thers were from North Dakota. Quote
SDirickson Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 I meant the map at the very top of the topic. Doesn't exactly look like North Dakota to me, lol. Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 the mao on top is a different terraine Iam working on Its just made up that is the inational planned form now the hard part moving the sea tiles to the right spots lol. Iam working on two typens of terraine one winter for the Korea Campaign, and the second is a europa style land mass like England but with a smaller channel. Quote
SDirickson Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 Ahh, gotcha. Once I get my new PC, I'm gonna start playing SF a lot more. Can't wait to try your terrains. Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 For winter there will be Three sets comming out Major Lee has been working on his the longest(think hes waiting till the second service patch is relesaed). Deuces has one they are working on when not working on Tainted Ciger. And mine that will be an addon for the Korean Campaign None of these works are in any way related other then they will be in SFP1. Mine are a combanation of cut and paste from old photos I took on depolyments, and tiles that were cleaned to solid white panels and then painted/sprayed over(my tiles are in 256x256 size 24bit color) the tile setup is from the out of the box configuration from the game.start with a blank 256x256 bit map color in your texture save as is and match the name to the tile you whant it to replace. that is all there is to it,to get an additional random pattern rotate the tiles so things dont alway point the say way. Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 This is what Deuces is using to do tiles but as I did not have full versions of those programs I went for a more simple method with programs that are already in pc's. the Bryce program is very good but the ones I saw were priced at $149 Major Lee has a writeup on making a campaign http://www.major-lee.net/ Next major project will be a campaign working off the new terraine I will be following Major Lees format for these I already have sone sinlge mission for the korea effort. +Dave Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 Hey Ranger Post the photos you are working off. I want to see what you are working with. Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 np ---------even took them from the off the page I store them on a good example is the last one just cut and paste and bam ya got snowy terraine Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 yelding these after a lil bit of tweaking Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 where I got the start from ;) and the reasone we were up there Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 now just took this it is an untouched snapshot the tile wasent embossed of sharpned prior to adding to the terraine. the edges were left from the older tile i had and is over my older effort so you can see the single tile joining. the one tile took only 25 min start to finish, but to look good takes longer softer tones, and other tweaks make it look alot better;) Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 winter bata for Koran campaign-----still haveing probs with the coastal tiles Quote
