+{FL}Hausser Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 I currently own only WOV. but I have to ask the questions. 1) What are the advantages of having all three? 2) Could I have same benefits with only SFP1 and WOV? It seems that most everything that is released for any series will work fine in any of the others. So what are the real advantages of a double or triple install? Quote
DWCAce Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Each game has it's own unique a/c, terrain, and campaign(s). For MP, each person must have the same base game, and if modded, must have all of the same mods as the other players. That's about all I can think of at the moment. Quote
+Dave Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 I own all 3 and its worth the little money you will have to own all 3 as well. Each have something the other doesn't. Since I have all 3, I integrate all of them into one another. Quote
BUFF Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 & not forgetting that for the low, low price that they currently go for you get to support 1 of the very few flightsim makers left & the only 1 afaik that keeps patching his old games upto the latest game engine level for free. Quote

+Dave Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Its possible, I haven't done that though. I would transfer everything to WOE. So do amerged install of WOV and WOE then add the terrain and other stuff from SF to it. TK says If you have WOE, you should be able to simply copy Objects (Aircraft and GroundObjects) and Terrain folders form WOV and SFP1/SFG to WOE. Campaign files need to be extracted from MissionData.cat into their individual campaign folders, and then copied over to WOE. Couple of minor issues you'll run into, however... First, with WOV, you'll theater-specific object availability dates (ie, MiGs and SAMs will be availble when they were to Soviet, not necessary to North Vietnamese). Second, I think the squadron list on SFP1/SFG is totally different from WOV/WOE. So your squadron marking from SFP1 may or may not show up. And third, some ground objects may show up with wrong camo textures - I think this will result in them using green textures even in desert (or desert textures even in WOE, depending on which .ini got copied over) Quote

+Typhoid Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Rgr that! I have noticed that in a merged install, as noted by TK, you will get the objects at the time they were available to the Soviets, not the NVA. So if you want to do a realistic Vietnam campaign you should keep one install of just WOV. Other than that issue, merge, merge, merge and add...... Quote
