I need more targets!

 

I've been finding that MiG-21s aren't the challange they used to be anymore, especially against my F-14. For a bigger challange, I downloaded the MiG-23 package and installed it. However, I flew five or six missions and the new MiGs still didn't show up. I'm sure I was flying in their era. Is there something I did wrong?

Ok here is a huge challenge, get WoV and fly strike, sam suppression and CAS there will be so many targets that your game will slow down! even better yet, take her down on the deck and try to hit as many targets as you can before those 37mm and 20mm quad zsu's turn your ac into dust! happy hunting!

If I was looking for a suicide mission, that'd be grand. But all I want is a couple different MiGs to shoot at.

There was a user-made AI mod that makes the Migs better opponents. I do not remember where I downloaded it...anyone?

The MiG-23 series should be active well into the 1990s. Which of the SF-titles are you running? Also, if you want a challenge, install the Su-27 and dial up the year to anything after 1991-92, so they have R-73s and R-77s.

Suicide mission... Hmmm, just try some mig-21 vs F-15/16 campaign. That is the same like sam suppression and CAS

Ok, after another couple missions the new MiGs started to show up, so my original problem is solved. I was also thinking of downloading a MiG-29. If I get an SU-27, I'd much rather fly it than shoot at it. It's WAY too nice a piece of engineering to (try to) blow out of the sky. the Uber-opponents sounds tempting, but I'd like have better wingmen instead. Also, I've done my own bit of suicide missions, between an intercept of 16 TU-22s plus their 8 MiG-21F-13 escorts with me and my wingie in F-8Es, and a CAS mission in an A-10 against a bunch of tanks with unexpected AAA support (and I have the "more effective flak" upgrade).

Sounds ok, but there is nothing like flying into hanoi in a A-4 with well over 50 AAA and SAM sites, with more effective flak so thick it seems like a overcast day in addition to SAMs comming from EVERY direction, Woowee! pucker factor 1000! Oh, did I mention NOT having ANY counter measures? Just have my cot ready in the 'hanoi hilton'!
