Fun with Floatfires....

Recommended Posts

Just fiddlling around with skins....don't forget, this is still a VERY beta, and Capun needs to do more work on it, but it's way down on the list..

Decals still need a little more 'dialing in'

Floatfire Vb, 48 Squadron, Coastal Command:

Vb, Trop 885 Squadron FAA, Alexandria Detachment, MTO:

(may redo all the letter decals to match the squadron codes

of course, we mustn't forget the US Navy... VF(P)-99

How about a little reverse Lend-Lease; figgered I do this one whilst I had a nice (well, semi) 3-tone

VC-4 detachment D, SoWesPac

I let an Oscar get a little too close while I was blasting the Kates they were escorting

This was all just for fun!

Hey Kevin....your pontoons are showing....

When you got big pontoons like mine, they just natrually show!!!! (guess I been watching too much 3 1/2 Men!!)

The Sunderland is what got me thinking about Coastal Command. Even went out and d/led this CC book - 30 freeking megs on pdf, and had nothing I could use!!! (although it's full of nice b/w pictures....)

What really seems strange to me, is the colors are BOTH gray!! - yet the slate gray looks green!

Still trying to come up with a Navy designation for the Seafire...all the manufacuter codes are taken (V=Lockheed). Was thinking F5V (for Vickers). Knowing how thing were done, AAF wise, they'd probably just leave it as 'Seafire 3C'...easier when reordering parts.

Now that all the decal positions are known, and stars established, it's be a real easy reskin for USAAF Spits.

You are correct sir! There is also a TBM, Tomcat, P-2, H-3, S-3 in the park here on base. Post some pics when I get off work tonight.

All I have here is the US Army Quartermaster Museum and the Women's Museum. At least the QM one has a DUKW. I can always drive up to the VA Air museum, they just got an F-14D parked next to their SR-71.

Hey Gruppe,

PBYs are bitchin' But you can haul a sierra load of A2G ordinance in a P5M Marlin.

Armament

4x 2,160 lb (980 kg) torpedoes or

4x 2,000 lb (907 kg) mines or bombs or

8x 1,000 lb (454 kg) mines or

16x 500 lb (227 kg) bombs or

16x 330 lb (150 kg) depth charges or

1x Mk.90 "Betty" nuclear depth charge

I think the JDF made a turboprop version. I'm still stuck in SEA / WOV. CL

I'm one of those weird perverted people...I just have a thing for flying boats & amphibs.

Got to see plenty of them on the news couple of weeks ago with the big fires we had here in SoCal...hell, they even brought down one of the Mars boats from up north...very cool to see that on the nightly news!!
