Could not find a layout for Vf-111 but found a lot of other stuff..

I seriously suggest any serious skinner go here, great profiles and layouts on mostly Navy aircraft, carrier wings, and squadrons from 1950s-80s. A lot of CAG artwork and very highly detailed

Btw you know what would make the mirage factory projects even better....

Good to know that the reserve units aren't forgotten.

Btw, are the skins for the F-8D and F-8E interchangeable?

I dont think so, as the E has a larger nose.

haha, F-8C's and F-8J's... YES!!!!!!

I'm not sure whether the nose is the problem, but the hump of F-8E caused some glitches when you put a skin made for the F-8D on it...at least that was the case with previous Crusader versions.

Also, I really like the F-8J. It looks perfect.

You know I haven't tried it to be honest. I guess all you can do it see if it does.

Looks like bucklehead was right about the nose

VF51 on a F-8D.

VF111 skin on a F-8E. Notice that the hump between the wings isn't textured.

But I do think that this should be fixable, as long as the creators of the skins don't mind and one really needs to transfer a skin to another Crusader version.

And with the ones I am working on, thanks to C5 I know where there parts are to get them painted. The nose for example, just paint out the whole area on the BMP from the tips to the start of the body and its covered. On the BMP where you see the vertical stab, the very bottom blank area is where the hump is. Make sense Gocad?

So, here we go:

VF-111 F-8C aboard USS Oriskany, 1967, largely based on C5's skin, only changed the colors and the different codes:

And my favorite, VF-24 aboard USS Bon Homme Richard, '67 cruise, four Mig-17's down. Here the plane of Cdr Marion "Red" Isaackx, XO of VF-24, one of the four Mig Killers of 21 July 1967:

It does.

Another rather unimportant issue solved. I hope C5 doesn't mind that I messed around with his skin.

Also, excellcent skins, Cork. :good:

I guess that's another reason why the insignia are painted on the skins...and not placed on the model through the decal.ini

post-22093-1201704462_thumb.jpg

And before anybody asks, that's not a new skin.

It can be found on Paul Nortness' site and has been there for quite some time. Since it was made for the Gunfighter's model it didn't take much work to adapt it for the MF version. All I had to do was change the Node names in the decal.ini.

(The fin decal on the other hand belongs to the WOV Crusader's VF-84 skin. I'm still working on this position.)

Anyway, it seems to me that it seems impossible to place a decal on the refuel pod door. Or is there a workaround I haven't thought of yet?
