+nele Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Uh, I have cut noise/jam resistance on "L". Those don't have to be in high percentage for any missile. It was for "domestic" use, I did it for all missiles (including R-73). I am not on computer that has WOE now-but check those two for R-60 I published here some time ago. I used it as a reference for all-aspect, the numbers are larger for -9L. Quote

MigHound Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Hallo pilots There were many questions about Soviet A2A missiles posted over CA or Thirdwire forums. This topic is about general improvement for Soviet A2A missiles for SFP1 series. We do not want talk about useless things like: "Which missile is the best...". We do not want negative criticize weapons pack made by many great modders and .ini tweakers. We found some problems in missile values, and we want correct them. R-23T for example: this IR missile can be fired from head to head position in reality. In weapondata.ini it si defined as Rear 180 Aspect. So we can not fire R-23T head to head. R-23 serries warhead weight is 40 kilograms -- this value is defined in weapondata.ini. Correct weight is 25 kilograms. But we have serious problems with correct informations about Soviet A2A missiles, in general. This topic I started with USAFMTL approval for this project. You can find it here (post nm. 15): http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry125350 These Soviet A2A missiles are placed in weaponspack from jul 2006: RS-2US Alkali-B RS-2U Alkali-A R-3S Atoll-A R-3R Atoll-B R-13M Atoll-C R-131M1 Atoll-E R-8MR Anab-A R-8MT Anab-B R-98T Anab-C R-98MT Anab-D R-40R Acrid-A R-40T Acrid-B R-23R Apex-A R-23T Apex-B R-24R Apex-C R-24T Apex-D R-60T Aphid-A R-60M Aphid-B R-60TM Aphid-C R-27TE Alamo R-27T1 Alamo-B R-27ER Alamo-C R-27R Alamo-A R-27AE Alamo-D R-73M1 Archer R-73M2 Archer R-77 Adder --------------------------------- R-3U Atoll-B Training Missile There are another exported versions in the weaponspack as Indian "HAL R-60MK (AA-8 Aphid-C)" for example. What we need are serious inforations. I am in email contatct with Mig-21/S-22 pilot. So I can Ask him about R-3S/R13M. Similar, I can try it with Mig-23 pilot. He can help with R-23/60 info. And we need tons of good info. So help us, if it is possible, please. Ewerybody can find info on Wikipedia or similar pages. We need better technical info. Than we can post our "news" and share with community. This is my personal opinion: 1. editing misile values 2. making 512x512 new textures for missiles (something like new textures for weapons in new MF pack) As many times before: I hope you understand my english This is starting post. So we will wait for your replys, notes, opinions, photos, datas  It's most likely, the majority of you folks realize this, but, I feel the need to point out. The components within the game engine are very date and era specific, and also aircraft model specific. For example, the RS-2U Alkali-A was procured in the '50s, whereas the R-73M1 Archer is a relatively new missile type. (early generation MiG-21s will not carry R-73s) When I first started to mod Wings Over Europe, I noted, most specifically, the first release of the MiG-25P, the aircraft was always flying empty when I encountered them in the air, thus making it nothing more than a turkey shoot. Not very challenging, right? I began to compare it's loadout.ini file vs those of the stock aircraft and noted one distinct difference. All stock soviet aircraft had loadouts with missiles under the "R" designation. (eg. R-3R Atoll) Many modders aircraft submissions had their loadouts with the "AA" designation. (eg. AA-2 Atoll) I don't think the game knows to look for this designation. Any aircraft with this "AA" designation in the loadout.ini will appear empty, when under AI control. I had to go in and change the loadouts for some 12 aircraft, so that they would have "something" to fire at me. As I researched the material on soviet aircraft and their loadouts throughout the cold war, I began to compile a small list of missiles, their type, (IRM / SAHM / AHM) their service records, specifically, when they were in use, and what aircraft on which they were deployed. Here is a list of what I have put together, so far. It's not perfect, but it's a start. Feel free to point out mistakes and update accordingly on this thread. This will allow those of you with this problem to change the loadouts to the proper "R" designations. RS-2U = AA-1A Alkali IRM (MiG-17/19) small RS-2US = AA-1B Alkali IRM (MiG-17/19) small R-3R = AA-2 Atoll SAHM (MiG-21) Large R-3S = AA-2 Atoll IRM (MiG-21) R-4M = AA-5 Ash (SU-11/15, Yak-28) R-8MR = AA-3C Anab (SU-11/15, Yak-28) R-8MT = AA-3D Anab (SU-11/15, Yak-28) R-13M = AA-2 Atoll IRM (MiG-21) small R-23R = AA-7A Apex SAHM (MiG-23) Large R-23T = AA-7B Apex IRM (MiG-23) Large R-27ER = AA-10 Alamo SAHM (MiG-29) R-27R = AA-10 Alamo SAHM (MiG-29) R-40T = AA-6 Acrid (MiG-25) R-60T = AA-8 Aphid IRM (MiG-21/23/25/27, SU-15/17) R-73M = AA-11 Archer IRM (MiG-29) small R-77 = AA-12 Adder AHM (MiG-29) Large R-98 = AA-3 Anab (Su-15) Large I hope this is helpful. Again, please feel free to chastise, ridicule and shun me for any mistakes and post the corrections on this thread. Quote
Jug Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Hi everyone..I have a little suggestion for the upcoming soviet weapons pack, first of all the soviet radars has to be more powerfull eg. the su-15A/F series had powerfull radaras in reality, inorder to gude the SAHM when fighting against a B-52 for example! in the game u will only shoot the B-52 down when using a powerfull radars with a powerful missle say for example the Anab, or minimize the power of the B-52 ECM?!!, any ways the whole thing needs to be revised, because the B-52 has too much armor on it when i tried to shoot it down after i took out its ECM, and counter measures by modding it wont go down??!!! does that happen in real world?? The BUFF's ECM package is pretty powerful. Taking a shot at a BUFF with anything is not an easy thing to do and getting the results you want is even more difficult. For example, a BUFF putt-putting over the motherland at about 200 feet and at about 500 knots tossing nukes out every 100 miles is not an easy target for an air to air kill. Sneak up for a gun shot from the rear and the gatling gun stinger will remind you that her bullits go just as far as yours do. Angle off gun shot is incredibly difficult to do and live through the experience. Look down, shoot down with missiles is a question of percentages. Most missile warheads are small and the BUFF is a big tough aircraft. What fighter electronics have been put to the test of repeated EMPs put off by nuclear detonations and survived as anything other than expensive and interesting paperweights? The BUFF electronics countermeasures officer has an array of equipment that is powerful and crosses the spectrum. I have had my EWO start a fire in a F-101 Voodoo during practice intercepts by focusing a small part of his suite on the 101s radar frequency (we normally kept our equipment in standby, but my EWO at the time was out of control). I had an irate EWO (baseball nut and quite wierd) blackout the entire northeast United States broadcast of a Boston Red Socks game because he had to fly and was missing the game. Taking on a BUFF with full systems up is no easy task and, if modled properly, would be no fun at all. Quote
