Question about Terrains

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to have Major Lees AmericaNW summer and winter terrains in two seperate folders and make them work. Right now I am using the winter one but would like the summer with the mountains. I tried to rename one or the other with no luck. It would nice to be able to pick the one you want for each mission.

I cannot believe I am having trouble with something so simple. I installed the NW no problem. I now can fly the desert mountains. When I try to winterize by using the winter kit. I can only fly the winter mountains and lose the desert. Dueces if you can help I would appreciate it. When I used the winter kit it overides the files that are in the folder. Should there be two folders, if so what names and do you have to rename any. Thanks from somebody who is definetly having brain fade on this one.

I got it to work

first make a copy of you AmericanNW folder and rename to AmericanNWW (Two W's)

Next add winter Files to the new directory

Next open your AmericanNW.ini file an edit like shown

[Terrain]

TerrainFullName=American Northwest Winter <-----Change Name

DataFile=AmericaNWW_data.ini <-----Change to two W's

TargetFile=AmericaNWW_targets.ini <-----Change to two W's

TargetTypeFile=AmericaNWW_types.ini <-----Change to two W's

MovementFile=AmericaNWW_movement.ini <-----Change to two W's

NationsFile=AmericaNWW_nations.ini <-----Change to two W's

BriefingText=AmericaNWW_briefing.ini <-----Change to two W's

DogfightFile=AmericaNWW_dogfight.ini <-----Change to two W's

DogfightOnly=FALSE

the next step is change all AmericanNW.* file names to two W's

in the new AmericanNWW directory

Next start SFP1 and have fun, It worked for me.

NDRustyfan - Thanks I got it to work. I was renaming it to something else but that won't make the difference. It made me think when I read your post. I forgot about the AmericanNW.ini file to change a few things. I started but never finished. Talk about brain fade! Thanks again
