Yeah I agree. Some like to come down on microsoft because its microsoft, but when they put out a nice product I will give them credit for doing so. They did a good job on this one IMO.

The sunsets are just amazing. :D

Here is a shot of my HU16 Albatross at sunset over San Francisco Bay

I will be picking this one up when I get home...

Appearently it is set up for internet play where I can be an instructor and set/change the weather as a student shoots instrument approaches.

This sounds like great fun; in addition the instructor mode allows simulating failures on your buddies plane during a instrument approach...

If anyone is interested in hooking up for some instrument landing stuff at or near miniums P/M me, we can do Roger Wilco and the trainer mode and just some fun fly activity vice air combat.

Cheers

Anyone up to writing a in-depth review on this? I'm neck-deep in the LOMAC thing and won't be able to get to it for a little while...

If it works well I might...(only interested in the multiplayer side of it).

I have in work a tutorial/review on configuring CH Pro USB controllers (Pro Throttle, Combat Stick and Rudder Pedals).

I also have to wrap up my Kid Rock Video "Cowboy". 8)

O and not to mention the virtual Oil Field I am trying to model

SFP-1 is kinda slow these days, so maybe the controller tutorial can be based on MSFS 2004 (was slanted for SFP-1) and that can roll into a FS 2004 multiplayer/LAN/Internet review. I get home 15 August, will see what I can do.

Cheers

I bought this yesterday and its great. I got right up on a Cessna in a thunderstorm and squeezed my trigger thinking bullets were going to come out. LOL I must say the weather is awesome and being able to fly out of my airport here in Bakersfield, Ca. was a blast. The game even sets up for real time and weather, I mean it was the exact time and temperature as it was today when I was flying. I even put my lear jet down in LAX without my landing gear down for fun just to imagine how jacked up it would be for air traffic. LOL I cant wait till they make the Navy mod for it like FS2003.

Jeff, if you want me too I can. I used to write reviews for addon aircraft for simviation.com a long time ago, but have been working with MS sims since FS5.

Do you want somethin long or just a "to the point" review? with a few screens thrown in? What format would you like? word, notepad, etc

Let me know

btw- I have been flying around in FS9 for over a week now and I think I've gotten my teeth sunk in to it.

Oh one thing Beer, when doing multiplayer flights (you might already know this) make sure any addon aircraft is downloaded and used by both parties. If someone in your online flight doesnt have a specific addon that you do then that person will see you in a default C172. Basically if your flying a Hornet and the other guy doesnt have that plane then he will see you streak by at Mach1 in a C172. lol

Well, I broke down and bought FS2004 today. I have only flown once, in a DC-3, but have to say I am most impressed. The graphics are beautiful; specifically, the ground detailing is superb!

Will aircraft created for earlier versions of FS work with this version?

Bought mine today too after reading after reading Daggers post. Wow, the graphics are beautiful! Flew from College Park (oldest Airport in the states) to National Airport and the Scenery was really good. Downloaded the weather and I live here and it was just like looking out my window.

Chief from what I'm finding and reading most aircraft for 2002 will work..I have a couple of Military aircraft from 2002 installed and they work fine.I've read the CFS2 aircraft will work also.

Chief there are some issues with some addon aircraft having certain parts of the aircraft not showing up. Not sure if this is a Gmax issue or what. Still trying to find that out. Right now transfering addons from 2002 into 2004 is a trial and error thing. Most work fine, some will be funky. No different than what we went through when switching from FS2000 to FS2002 a couple of years back.

Jeff, I got your PM and sent a reply. Not sure if the reply went through, but I think we are good to go.

Thanks Dagger and Seawolf

I have noticed that some of the features on 2002 military aircraft do not work in FS2004. For example, when I transferred a RA-5C to FS2004, the landing gear are not there. Somewhat disconcerting, to say the least!

Also, I was not able to find a Navy Corsair, darn it. Found a link to one, but is dead, and the only other one is a National Guard type, and the colors don't transfer well to FS2004.

Hi Chief,

A Corsair came with Abacus's Flight Deck 2 add-on but I don't know yet if it will install and work with FS2k4? It was in VA-86 skin. I'll try to install it and see what happens and let you know.

I just loaded Flight Deck 2 and the A/C loaded fine but the scenery part of Flight Deck 2 wouldn't. When I clicked to change a/c in "create a flight" and went to "unspecified a/c" all the FD2 A/C came up but when I clicked on the A7 this message came up "The Aircraft you are attempting to load is not fully compatable with Flight Simulator. The incompatability may cause FS to become unstable, the aircraft to function incorrectly, or both. Do you want to disable the unsupported features of this aircraft?" Yes or No. To be on the safe side I clicked yes for the A7. This disabled the graphics rendering on the movable parts of the a/c including the landing gear. When I lowered the flaps the indicator in the cockpit moved and the FM seemed to be fine. I escorted a Dash-8 for a while and exited the flight. Next I changed to the F-14, the same question came up and this time I clicked No. The landing gear was visible this time. Did the same with the F-18 and the gear were visible and the moving parts rendered too. When I lowered the flaps you could see them lower. I tried to change back to the A7 and it remembered the setting so I was not asked for it again which I wish I had said No so the gear and movable parts would render on the A7. Next I uninstalled FD2 and FS2k4 and reinstalled both but somehow it still remembered the setting I chose for the A7? I did not delete the FS folder and I probably should have and checked the registry.

BTW Chief,

The cockpit of this version of the A7 is pretty accurate. Escorting the Dash-8 was a little fun too.

Next I'll try to uninstall and reinstall AND delete the folders and check the registry this time to see if it will let me change the setting on the A7 so the gear, flaps and moving parts are rendered.
