oded Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Having a lot of fun with the sim, but have few questions: 1. Is there a single key for a rear view (check my 6) ? the F5 key shows the plane's rear and than I have to move the camera which takes valuable time in combat. 2. Where can I see my ammo status (number of missiles left and so on...) & fuel status ? 3. Why do I need waypoints and can't just fly ahead to the target ? 4. Is there a way to ask my wingman to get closer to me, or do I have to find him wherever he is in the sky ? Thanks, Oded. Quote
+Syrinx Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Hi Oded, welcome to CA! 1. No key for rear view, use the mirrors if your system can handle it ! Or F6 external and look behind you that way. 2. Fuel...use the cockpit gauge. Ammo...hmm, sneak an external peek ! 3. You can fly straight to the target if you wish. Press W until the waypoint indicator is on the triangle target marker on the map view (M). Waypoints are how it's done in real life. You can move them in the planning map ! 4. Press Tab, this brings up the wingman orders. Select Wingman, 4. rejoin. Quote

Thanks, Oded. 1. most of the original Jets in this series had poor rear vision which may explain why by default you cant look around that far - the view to look around can be extended via a mod - which is handy for the A-10,F-15 etc 2. Most cockpits should have a fuel guage - although not all do - its either a counter or dial depending on the actual jet. You will find that most of the essential cockpit dials can be used. 3. You can - but you still need a waypoint to tell you how to navigate to the actual target itself. Ideally you set waypoints (limited in this sim) so you avoid airfields and other things that are likely to have SAMs defending them so you are less likely to be blown out of the sky on the way there. Also when you are escorting (or being escorted) one of the points will be a rendevous point so you can meet at a certain time - so theyre actually essential Edited March 12, 2008 by CoolHand29 Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Would say check your ammo before take off and remember it. Quote

csb Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Oded, the mod for that F5 view to make it a check6 can be found in a search here or simhq. However it's not very cogent reading. If you have trouble I can post my changes to viewlist.ini and you can just copy them in. It gives a view from just above a/c lookin to rear - you can pan full 360 horizontal - 90 vertical movement - Check6 view available for AI as well. Quote
