ace888 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Anyone, I downloaded the weapon_data from JAS-39C to the WOI weapon_data file using the next weapondataxxx (the next number down the long list). When I go to the loadout on the JAS-39C, I do not see any of the modern weapons, such as the Meator FAMRAAM missile? what could be the cause? As for the skin, same situation. I download the texturexxx (next number down the texture list) and I do not see the skin as an option on the aircraft that I have selected. Although, some of the sking that I added does show up, some do not... yet I use the same process? I read all the "readme" files and use the knowledge base process, but something is wrong? Thanks Quote
Gocad Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 It sounds like that you did not load the edited weapondata into Thirdwire's weaponeditor. Only after you saved your edits there the changes will take place. Because the game does not use the weapondata text file, but the .dat file as reference. New skins add themselves to the skin list of that aircraft (provided that they come with their own textureset.ini) Quote
ace888 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Gocad, Thanks for the information. Now more stupid question... I would have to download the "weaponeditor" and then modified the weapons that I want to add "via" the weaponeditor before sending them to the weapondata files? Is the weaponeditor user friendly or you have to be a rocket scientest to figure the process out? Is there a different weaponeditor for each of the Thirdwire products SF1/WOV/WOE/WOI? I am just learning the ropes here, I do appreciate the patients and time in aswering my questions. I know I will probably do better by just reading the whole knowledge base and mod section on this form... Again, thanks Quote

ace888 Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 USAFMTL As always, you and many of the senior members, have been great in helping people. I download the weaponeditor, searching through the combatace thread as to how to use it, so far no luck... I do not know how to operate it. I unzip the file and click on the icon, nothing??? Where to I place the folder and open the files? Thanks Quote
ace888 Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 OK USAFMTL I follow your instructions under getting the weapon editor to work on Window and got it going. Now, more quetions? The editor right now is completely blank. Do I past all my weapons on the editor and make modifications on the editor? How do I transfer my weapon editor work back to the weapondata? Thanks Quote
Spectre_USA Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Once in the weapons editor, open the weaponsdata.ini you wish to use. This shoud be the one you pasted your correctly numbered entries into. Once open, look around, see if it all looks uptight, and click save. That will create a new weaponsdata.dat, which is what the simulation uses. Go fire up the game, and slap on your new explosive toys... Quote
ace888 Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 Spectra, It is not working man.... I tested the weaponeditor by adding MICA and IRIS-T, I successfully added the weapons to the weaponeditor via import/merg function, then I use what USAFMTL describe by clicking on the new weapon and then click OK when the screen pop up. I just check the game, no MICA/ IRIS-T weapon on JAS-39C loadout... in addition, I have been trying to fix the weapon loadout on my F-4EJ "Kai" (which had zero weapons on the loadout, just the main center tank!?) Tell me... I right click the weaponeditor and went on the compatability section and add Window98 to make it compatable but what does that do? I do not think the weaponeditor is link to WOI weapondata.INI at all... I am missing something. I try to just copy weapondata from the specific weapons from the a/c's weapon folder and past it on the main WOI aircraft weapondata file. This method did not work either??? Quote
ace888 Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 Ok, solve the problems of weapon load via the aircraft config.data. Still trying to figure out the weapon editor??? Quote
Spectre_USA Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) Spectra? Whatever. Normally INI files will open automatically when double-clicked in notepad. Open the readme in whatever weapon you want, and paste in the whole line that starts with [WeaponDataXXX]. Now here's the tricky bit. You have to scroll up and see what the last number is on the weapon. Say it is 125. Like this; [WeaponData125] TypeName=AA-9 FullName=AA-9/R-33 Amos ModelName=aa9 etc. You with me so far? OK, scroll down to the one you JUST PASTED IN. Replace the 3 X's with the next conceivable number, like maybe, 126? Save the file. Now, open up the weapons editor, and it WILL BE BLANK. Do a file -->> open, and look for the same weaponsdata.ini you just saved. When it is open you should see all the explosive bits already installed, and at the very bottom, the last possible entry, it should show the one you just added! Hit save to the right of that, and close the editor. You are good to go. Short of remotely connecting to your system, there is little more I can do to explain. _EDIT_ Snide remark removed. +ace888 Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 Spectre_USA Hey, didn't mean to type your name wrong... First, my original problem was that I downloaded a weapon editor when in the WOI "object" folder there is already one installed. I click on it and change the properties so that it will work under Window98 as an option. Did all the things that you described and so far I have yet to see the new weapons on my loadouts. I just changed some of the new weapons start year and end year, as well as, the export and end export year.... Hoping that this will make the weapons available? Read your article, very nice... Cheers Quote
