Wrench Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Here's a quicky test shot of the B-25B with a torp. Obviously, I still need to dail in the 'mounting brackets'... fueselage skin is new; was making a new templates tonight. Still have to do the wings. ALso, note the now none-transparent belly turret; as they were periscope operated, they were solid sheet metal. (its a decal -- borrowed from an uncompleted B-25C 'Strafer' mod for New Guinea) OR we can use the A-20A or C, as I've got several skins readily available (and templates!!) and just needing redecaling. And adding the torp station of course... Your choice! Wrench kevin stein Quote
Wrench Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 here she is, nearly finished.... I just have to do up serial number decals. Which will actually BE for B-25Bs... I'll do the usual 12, even though only 4 "will" be sent to Midway. notice the removal of the ventral turret and tail guns, (via data ini edits) as 98.6% of ALL B-25s either removed them in the field or were not installed at the factory (expecially on later models) C & D models could actually carry torps, and did so on severl occasions in SoWesPac...so, this isn't too far fetched! 69th BS, 38BG which is the actual unit delpoyed to Midway in their Maruarder (and later requipped with Mitchells!!) Wrench Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Whilst doing up the Pearl Harbor version of the VS-6 Dauntless, I thought I'd do quickie review of the VB-6 for Midway.... ...and was surprised how crappy it is!! So...revamped, with corrected decals and all sorts of interesting things I'll upload it to replace the existing version, both here and at my site sometime over the next day or so Wrench kevin stein Quote
+Hinchinbrooke Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Which reminds me. I have that fake Kongo Class fast battleship to fix up and pass along. (Note to self.) If there were more hours in the day and the game engine did naval/carrier operations proud................... who knows? Quote
ironmike775 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Only a big water desert with very few islands. The screenshot shows some Wildcats over Kure Atoll near the Midway islands. Which game do you mod to get this? Quote
Wrench Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 ???? ah, Strike Fighters, Wings Over Vietnam or Wings Over Europe... that screenie is from Gepard's Midway Terrain (availbe here) which is, now for some unknown reason, giving me a "groundobject.dll" CTD. Now I have to go back and see what missing from the GO folders..... ....if it ain't one thing, it' another!!!!!!! Wrench kevin stein Quote

Wrench Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Have to check with Baltika on the campaign....I just do skins and targets that "stand-in" B-25B (to replace the never-produced B-26 Marauder) is just about ready, have to finish the readme and a few decals, and it'll be up on my site (soon??) Suffice it say, 80% of the IJN forces are done; just have to finish the Kate decals, double check/adjust some decals on the Vals. Zekes posted day-before-yesturday; USMC Buffalos' at my site (skin only); Baltika has the USN torpedo bombers (since we unfortunately lack the TBD, they'll all be TBF-1 - all with 98.6% historicaly skins) "Stand-in" Vindicator is also done and in his possession. Just need more SBD skins Wrench kevin stein Quote
+Baltika Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 HI good day is there any time line for Midway campaign postand thanks for all your hard work Daniel Campaign file about 99% done, requires spit n polish, some campaign text files, and I need to write the installation/required d/ls readme. I need to consolidate all Wrench's good work on this and put it togehter as a d/l package. I will be out of town for about three weeks from now, so on hold til then. Still coming, though. Cheers, B. Quote
Wrench Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 And I still have ta finish the Kate decals....and the Val decals need a small tweek. Fortunately, the Kates are usable for PH and Midway...I'm a cheater! The Vals get all new skin in the 'camo green'. Have some screenies later. I've just updated the VB-6 Dauntless; totally new skin & decals -- now done up right. (reading the orignal readme made me remember that was the very FIRST skin I'd ever done !!!) It's on the last page of the WW2 skins, USN/USMC section. The "Midway Mitchell" has been uploaded to my site, and ready to go. As is the "Fake Jake" and the Zeke skin paks (also availabe here). An almost 100% accurate Marine Buffalo is also there; it'll replace the original skin/decal set in its entirety -- have matching Modex to BuNms for EACH aircraft, 99.9% Historically Accurate. Remember: any mods for aircraft that are DAT released will ONLY be on my site. Screenie below is the "Midway Mitchell", with corrected lights, loads, new 'gun' sight, and other tweeks (yes, we observed the missing lower turret) Guess I should upload the Avenger squadrons skin sets too ... since they're standing in for Devestators.... +Baltika Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Remember: any mods for aircraft that are DAT released will ONLY be on my site. Rgr that. I will be in touch nearer the time to clarify what can & can't go in the campaign d/l pack (obviously no DAT a/c, etc). Thanks for putting in the effort on this one. As you are making stuff available on completion, I guess it may be a good idea for folks to d/l that as they go along. That way, the campaign files can be dropped into an existing PTO install, with minimal work required to d/l all the requirements - at least all in one go. I can PM you about that if you prefer. Cheers, Baltika Quote

Wrench Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I say keep out here, where folks can read it and start collecting the aircraft/skin sets needed. That'll eliminate any time-lag in trying to get stuff, and the usual 'scrambling around to find it'. The only real thing that bugs me is that crap-tastic Vindicator stand-in. Probably have to do the skins for the Marine SBDs as well, although that should be a relative easy task (ie: new decals) Wrench kevin stein Quote

You know aircraft carriers, destroyers etc....I really want to fly this campaign..Thank you Quote
Wrench Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 The ships CAME with the Midway terrain ... look in the folder, they may still be residing in there. As to gettin the Dev A-Team aircraft, you need to register with them and request access to the downloads. All the info you need is at the DAT site: http://cplengineeringllc_bb.cplengineering...d69516a4ece53ec in the "Boards & File Policies" forum right there at the top. +Baltika Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) I have had a couple of requests to assist tracking down required files for the campaign download, so here is the full list drawn together in one place, with links. Forgive me for just giving a bare-bones list in the Read Me, I assumed all 23 & a 1/2 WW2 propheads round here would have d/led all the requirements already, as Wrench posted them, and had their PTO install set up just waiting for this campaign release Required Files:- ************** Gepard's Midway Terrain v1.1 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=7658 Bunyap's Weapons Pack (For WW2 weapons) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=2672 The following downloads are required from The Wrench's Site: http://wrench1smog.com/index.html TBF-1 Early mod (Also at CA: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=7236 ) Aichi E13A "Jake" stand-in A6M2-N_Early Pearl Harbor/Midway Zero Skin pack B5N1 Kate Pearl Harbor/Midway Skin Pack D3A Val Midway Skin pack F2A VMF-221 Midway skin SBD VB-6, VB-3 and VS-8 Midway skins TBF-1 Midway Avengers skin pack Midway Mitchell skin Required Aircraft: ***************** F4F-4 Wildcat by Pasko, Starfighter, Gramps, pit by Kesselbrut http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=1624 A6M2 (From ArmourDave's Japanese plane pack) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...mp;showfile=744 Aichi D3A1 Val by Pasko, Starfighter and Gramps, pit by ArmourDave http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=1889 SBD (From WOLF257's WW2 Plane pack) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=4363 F2A } B-17D } All by SFP1 Dev A-Team, available at capun's site B-25B } (Email registration and log-in required for d/l) B5N1 } http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/ A5M4 Claude } Required Ground Objects: Very Important!!!!! Ensure you use the Groundobjects included with Gepard's Midway terrain v 1.1. Many of the ships etc are REQUIRED for this campaign to work properly. Unzip Gepard's terrain rar file. In the /Midway folder you will see another rar file called GroundObject.rar - unzip that, and place the contents into your install's Objects/GroundObject folder. Then you should be all set. Feedback on the campaign play is most welcome, encouraged, and eagerly awaited - once you get everything in place Also, any negative comments you may have will not prevent me from inflicting further unwelcome WW2/Red-Side-Flyable/Non-historical/Downright-deranged campaign ideas I may have on the community at large But, as my time for extensive playtesting is limited, I would like to know if the darn thing is broken out-of-the-box Cheers all, Baltika NB This post has been edited to give proper credit to Dev A-Team for their A5M4 Claude. +Baltika Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) Me and my big mouth. Turns out the darn thing was broke out of the box. This little update will stop your USS Yorktown appearing right in the middle of an escort battlegroup and sailing right through the middle of them, taking them out in the process. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8442 Sorry to one and all Thanks to Bigstone for flagging this up (and whoever it was sent me a PM, now I realise what you meant, cheers) Hopefully there will be no other show-stoppers, but let me know if you see any weirdness. bigstone Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, Thanks for the fix...I am still having troubles...I have two of them. One when I load a ca,paign mission I look in the loadout screen of the aircraft and the aircraft do not have any weapons listed at all and the hard points of the aircraft are empty. The only thing they have and that work are the machine guns...I installed Buynap's 03 July 06 Wepaons pack into WOE... Two when I fly the first mission of the Midway campaign and complete it...It states the IJN has overwhelmed the US forces and the IJN has won the campaign??? End of campaign.... Am I missing something here? What campaign settings should I have for this to not happen? Quote

Am I missing something here? What campaign settings should I have for this to not happen? Hi Bigstone, First question: what version of WoE are you running? Bunyap's wep pack, (and this campaign) is designed for v083006. If you are using a later version of WoE, you will need to run the weapondata.ini file through the latest version of the weapons editor to get it to work. Second: Does the wep problem appear for all loadouts, or only some? Run a test campaign mission with VMSB-241 Vindicator squadron. This is Wrench's stand-in which is included with the campaign d/l, so there should be no issue with loadouts. If its bombs don't show up, then you have a problem with your install of the wep pack (probably the one listed above). If the Vindaway's bombs do show up, but others don't, there may be some issue with the loadout.ini for each a/c. If you look in the Midway_data.ini file, you will see that each unit has its weapons supply listed at the end of the unit entry. Check these entries against the loadout.ini for each unit's particular a/c. They should match. If not, either edit the loadout.ini to match the campaign supply entries, or edit the campaign supply entries to match your loadout.ini. then the weps should show up. Now then, campaign end problem. Which unit does this happen with? The US campaign is significantly harder than the Japanese campaign, due to the relative strengths of naval forces available. But the Japanese still need to successfully complete a series of at least four "ground" offensive phases before the US carrier units can be overwhelmed. And the campaign is set up so there are at least two air offensive missions between each ground offensive phase. The upshot is, you should get a good few day's worth of air missions before the US can be defeated, even if you lose every mission you fly. Anyone else having the same trouble? Cheers all, Baltika Edited March 12, 2009 by Baltika Quote
+Baltika Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) Another thought- Check you are using the modded terrain files supplied with the campaign d/l, over-writing the originals. These are:- Midway_movement.ini Midway_targets.ini Midway_TYPES.ini If you use Gepard's original terrain files, the campaign will not work - and may give the result you have described above. And yes I installed the latest WOE patch and Buynap's patch what now???? Quote
