Icarus999 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Ok guys I am sorry to bother everyone with this . I decided to move my game over to my newer computer, read the knowlage base and followed all of the steps. The game loads and I can arm my aircraft in the loadout screen but when I hit the Fly button to start the sim I get a CTD. This is killing me because my missions are maxing out my old computer and my new kick butt machine is not liking WOE at all my specs are: Vista 64 bit ultimate -w/ latest dx9 /Asus striker extreme MB/ 4 gigs of corsair XMS2 ddr2-800/Asus 8800GTX/ 2 WD 500 gig Hard drives/ sound blaster Xfi. Has anyone experienced this CTD on WOE at the start of a mission? The flight engine ini information in my WOE install is the same data as is provided to cut and paste in the KB vistas page so I did not do that step. Quote
Fubar512 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Try forcing WoE to run in WindowsXP SP2 compatibility mode. Quote
Icarus999 Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Try forcing WoE to run in WindowsXP SP2 compatibility mode. Thank you fubar512, i just gave that a try but no luck. but I have made a little progress, a few minutes ago I figgured out running the game as administrator allows the game to start but now the CTD comes at the end of the mission instead. FalconC45 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Turn off the shaders in the terrain and water lines in the terrain ini Falcon Quote
jomni Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) Turn off the shaders in the terrain and water lines in the terrain ini Falcon I'm also having the same problem. I already changed the INI as per the Knowledge Base instructions. Also running as Admin. I noticed that running as Admin = CTD before mission start Running normally = CTD at end of mission INI changes don't seem to do any difference. Edited June 24, 2008 by jomni Quote
FalconC45 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 It works for me. Are you sure you changed the right ini? Quote
jomni Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) It works for me. Are you sure you changed the right ini? Yup. My last culprit is DX9 which I have to update. I'm talking about WOI btw... Edited June 25, 2008 by jomni Quote
jomni Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Is it safe to install dx9 in Vista? I'm seeing conflicting accounts but I'm thinking it is safe because people have done so, and the MS site says the latest dx9 redist is compatible with Vista. Quote
Stick Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 There was a servicepack update for vista, that totally buggered my gameplay...when I removed it all was a-okay Quote
