Trojan Virus thingy!

Hello mates,

 

I recently bought a new PC and everything´s running fine until I get some messege on the lower right part of the screen saying that my windows auto-update is deactivated. I tiry to activate it again but the thig just stays deactivated.

 

Later I noticed that several webpages just wont open while I get flooded with pop-ups (porn) everytime I make a click.

 

I updated McAfee and ran a scan and came out clean. Later I downloaded PC Tools Spyware Doctor and ran a scan with that. Sure enough, I had 129 trojans and deleted them. The problem is I still get that messege about the window´s auto-update is still deactivated and I still keep getting those same trojans.

 

I also downloaded Lavasoft´s Adaware and ran a scan but those trojans are thougher than I thought.

 

What to do, what to do!

 

Can anyone offer some advise?

Don't run Adaware, run Spybot S&D instead as it's much more powerful. Also run hijack this, post the log here, and try smitrem.

Adaware used to be good, but I've heard stories of people in my neck of the woods having trouble with freezing during updating and scans, and in my experience, the current version is pretty crappy. I'm with Jules, go with Spybot S&D. AVG Shield also has an ad scanner integrated into AVG 8 now too.

So should I add AVG shield in conjunction with McAfee?

hijackthis is a VERY usefull tool, but only if you know what you are doing. hijackthis will let you delete anything, good or bad, so take care when using it. It sounds like he's got a bad BHO in there and possibly some redirecting goin on.

Not tryin to sound snotty, but my best advice is to refrain from going to those "certain" sites, and be carefull of what you P2P.

If you do run hijackthis, please post the log, its kinda become a hobby, figuring out browser hijacks for people.

Well now my anti virus system won´t activate any more...

 

Usually I keep my web site visits pretty basic...

I usually run multiple scans when searching because no one will get them all. Adaware, spybot, whatever. Just be careful about having more than one resident at a time.

Do you have all the Windows patches? Those close off some avenues to infection. I've not seen one where you can't turn on auto updates though.

Racing:

My son's laptop just started doing the same thing.

He took it to Geek Squad and they said it was VIRTUMONDE. Google it,you will find a lot of useful info.

They are going to fix it($130 and 5 days ).

The list of files and registry fixes is something else.

There are some good cleaners out there,though.

Listen to the people here,they have some excellent advice.

I use my C drive as my storage drive(#2)

I have another drive (E:) that is my system drive.

I download everything to the storage drive and open it there first.

I also bought a cheap router and use it as a firewall. I'm the only computer on it.

So far ,no problems.

Ok, I did a mega virus scan and finally got rid of them (so far so good). But now I´m getting this message everytime I start the windows that reads "Error loading C:/Windows/system32/iqhtqpxd.dll" After that the computer runs cool but what´s with that error message?

 

I think my machine needs a ride to the doctor pronto...

neither microsoft or google has heard of this .DLL, nor is it in any of my machines, but I do remember someone saying a certain instalation of XP give you that error message
