koushiro Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 ok today i tried an experiment i have Strike Fighters project 1 and i also have WOE. Now i transfered the desert terrian to WOE's terrian folder. and loaded Burning Sands 1983 on my copy of WOE everything works . until i want to begin my game on the the deck. but theres no carrier. Now i do know how to make Carriers work doing it on some many different campaigns. but i cannot go into the terrian ini in the desert terrain it says Desert security catalog. what do i do? does this only work on SFP1??? +Baltika Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Hmmm, You should be able to get it to work. The answer is to make sure you have the correct carriers installed in WoE. IIRC, SFP1 does not have any carriers installed as stock. So, look in the /Object/Groundobject folder in SFP1 to see what carriers are there. Carriers will have been added by the Burning Sands 1983 campaign d/l. Copy the carrier folder from your SFP1 install to yur WoE install. (Object/Groundobject folder in each case). Then see if carriers show up. Cheers, Baltika Quote
koushiro Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Ok i have them all installed that about 3 carriers and 2 they require but it still doesn't show up? is there something wrong with the terrian? or something else. koushiro Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 I've even tried the update the maker doesn't respond to his creation. so i hope someone else out there tried what i did. or is there a way to extract the security file in the desert terrian? Quote
Wrench Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Have you pulled the desert_targets ini and desert_types inis from the Desert.cat, and added the ships??? Obviously, with them sitting in their assigned stations off the coast (meaning- at the carrier stations defined in the targets ini), they probably won't appear. Also, they'll need adding to the types ini. Just like any other terrain object The tool you need is the Cat Extractor tool, available in our downloads section -since 2004!!!. I'm absolutely amazed to don't already have it. It's the single most usefull thing EVER created for this game series. Wrench kevin stein Quote
Echarlie Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Desert terrain works fine in WOE for me BUT......... I have both SFP1 and SFG. When I added the Desert terrain from one, It wouldnt show the carrier. So I switched it out with the terrain from the other and the carriers started working. Sorry I cant remember wich one I'm using now but I thought it was the one from SFP1. They were both patched up to the same level so I cant see that there would be any difference in them but that was the only change I made and the carriers started working. Do you have SF patched to the same level as WOE?? Also "Desert_Targets.ini" is the file I always worked with to get the carriers to working. I looked and couldnt find a "Terrain.ini" even when I looked in the "Desert.Cat" file. Quote
koushiro Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 You know what i'm stupid let me tell you why because the old saying 3rd times a charm rings really true. I downloaded the tileset named PolaksPRDesert2.zip so i added it to the desert terrain fron SFP1. made the desert look very cool. and i thought "eh might as well have fun even if i can't take off and land. so at the very end of mission i hit Alt N and flew to the area where i'm suppose to land. to my suprise in the distance the very damn thing i was looking for popped. THE STINKING CARRIER SHOWED UP AFTER I LOADED THE TILE SET. AFTER MY WIFE LAUGHED AT ME AND CALLED BAKA (Japanese for dumb, stupid, you get the point). so problem solved. i finally figured out my own remedy so case closed thank you everybody. sometimes its true. if you don't play around with it you won't figure out the problem Quote
+Baltika Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) Glad you got it sorted Nice pic, BTW. We had this in the UK in the late 70's: Battle of the Planets? I think the original was called Gatchaman? Anyway, does it for me  Edited August 22, 2008 by Baltika Quote
