How do you make an aircraft carrier stationary?

Self-explanatory question.

I want to make a carrier battle group and I know that it isn't possible unless you make the carrier immobile, otherwise it goes rampaging through your formation.

Someone said you remove the engine section of the .ini file, but I'm sure that's not the only thing you have to do.

It only "rampages" through the fleet if you have not added a new formation to the formations list, the spells out how the escorts should array themselves.

KillerBee and I experimented with this several years ago, and I've uploaded quite a few videos since then showing the fleet in formation.

As for making the carrier stationary, you can do so by adding it to the targets.ini file, at whatever coordinates you feel are appropriate to that map, at zero speed. I've moored units in Wilhemshaven harbor this way.

I think you may misunderstand. I want to make my landable Carrier Unit look like it's surrounded by picket guards.

How do you do this?

What might work is if you go into the ship's DATA.INI file and make the following changes:

[MovementSystem]

MaxRoadSpeed=12.0

MaxOffRoadSpeed=12.0

PowerAvailable=75

MaxTurnRate=0.2

MaxDeceleration=0.025

SuspensionConstant=0.0

MovementEmitterName=ShipMovementEffect

MovementEmitterPosition=0.0000,113.3723,0.0000

MovementEmitterSize=2.8

MovementUseEffect=TRUE

Sorry mate. Disregard my last post. I don't know what happened exactly but I accidentally sent the message before finishing it.

Here's the changes you should make:

[MovementSystem]

MaxRoadSpeed=12.0 -----> set this to 0.00

MaxOffRoadSpeed=12.0----->set this to 0.00

PowerAvailable=75

MaxTurnRate=0.2

MaxDeceleration=0.025

SuspensionConstant=0.0

MovementEmitterName=ShipMovementEffect

MovementEmitterPosition=0.0000,113.3723,0.0000

MovementEmitterSize=2.8

MovementUseEffect=TRUE

I'm actually trying to do the opposite. I've added ships to SFG and it's only the Carrier that's moving. I'm actually trying to get the three escort ships to move in formation with it. What I've shown above is just an educated guess, but you'd never know, it might work.

Carriers do only move when they're acting as an airbase. The problem here is that TK probably never considered full blown carrier groups with lots of other ships around the carrier moving along.

In order to make ground objects move you'll need to add a movement path, but you'll notice that there is none for carriers.

I would therefore suggest that you take your question directly to TK before you drive yourself crazy trying to achieve something that is simply not possible due to certain in-game limitations.

Can you elaborate on what you had to add to the formation.ini in order to get this to work, or link to the info? I just saw the ship formation in you 100nm maverick kill, and I'd like the same for my WOV install...

Thanks!
