Thanks for the link, I missed the beginning last night. Particularly poignant that the RAF had no exercises for what to do after dropping the nukes. I heard an ex Vulcan pilot on radio 4 describe his thoughts on the matter, to carry on flying east below the radar until the last drop of fuel then bail out and start a new life with a Siberian wife.

Have seen it twice - more history than action i suppose - but a few interesting bits - didnt know about the zeppelin bombing london in 1915 - cheeky gets!!

 

+ some great film of the Lancasters and even a Vickers Valient gets on there!

Thought it was a very good, sober account of what it's like to be in the RAF, or any other military force. Not what I was expecting, but probably all the better for it.

Hmm, I'm fairly sure the RNAS were flying anti-Zeppelin patrols during WW1, although it true British Military fashion I'm guessing it was only after the event! I know a couple of them got shot down later in the war.
