Welcome

As everyone may well be aware, Many squads are patiently waiting for the next great sim. There are 3 major ones that are just around the corner: Strike Fighters: Project 1, Lock On: Modern Air Combat, and MS Combat Flight Simulator 3.

Each of these covers an era in flight combat. CFS3 will continue the excellent CFS line with another WW2 era flight sim. Project 1 will test the radar challenged era of the late 50's thru earler 70's, and LOMAC will cater to everyone thats looking for "point-click-destroy" modern era weaponry.

Whatever you choices are, there will always be a squad to assist you in becoming the best. I would like to Welcome everyone to Biohaz, and remind them that the Multiplayer experience will take your game to the next level.

Very well said Fates! There are some great sims just around the corner, and you can tell how antsy people are getting just by reading the forums. There seems to be a lot of impatient and grumpy users out there lately.

It's amazing how much multiplayer has changed how we play games. I remember the first sim I played MP in, Longbow2 right after it came out. I played pilot while someone across the US sat back-seat. After that I never looked at simming the same again. Most games I get now I don't even play the single-player missions. It was over 6 months before I even tried the single-player Mechwarrior4 campaign, and I have yet to finish it. Crushing a computer opponent just doesn't compare to blowing your best friends to virtual hell!

Virtual Squads would have never come into existance with out games that contained good Multiplayer (MP). I've been playing computer games for years, but it was the introduction of USAF and Jane's Combat Network that really put me in touch with MP.

Add into that programs like Roger Wilco and BattleComms....man oh man.

I'm an Aircraft Engineer by trade...I can't fly as a fighter pilot due to medical reasons, but when I step into the "virtual cockpit", I get to experience everything I hoped for..........while drinkin a beer...

Man aint this fun!!!!

Weasy tippy toes around hoping not to offend.

In MY opinion...likely not many other's, I think the WWII sims have been done to death. Not saying CFS3 or even IL2 is bad...on the contrary they look great. I even have CFS2 and enjoyed it until there were things like F-15s and F-16 modded in. My bag is online multiplayer first...along with good flight models and graphics. Add ons and mods are great for single player, but they tend to take away from fair online play. I think CFS3 will be a great single player sim.

LO:MAC looks fantastic and I'll surely give it a whirl, but IMO again, I'm not a cockpit clicker. I like the speed and quick thinking/reaction time in a heated dogfight. I don't have time to learn Falcon 4 type systems and having to think about every system and subsystem that needs to be done before I can achieve a clean kill.

Right in the middle of WWII style and LO:MAC hardcore style sims I think is Strike Fighters. You've got your low tech targeting systems like a prop sim, yet with the speed of high tech jets in a 60s-70s era fighter sim. This title has had me excited about a return to online squad buisiness for nearly a year. Plus being the first one due out of the three helps too. These are the aircraft I grew up watching as an Air Force brat, and later actually working on F-4E/Gs myself so they've already found a place in my heart. There's still some concern about it being SO open ended for modding, but I think (hope) skunkworks will be able to keep some control about what the online guys are using...as well as Hyperlobby code matching (if Hyperlobby takes it on later). I'm sure at least for my squad I'll be keeping an eye on what SWs does...which all looks good so far, and keeping an eye on what other squads pick up in the way of added aircraft or whatever.

Anyhoo.....these are only my opinions and aren't meant to put any of the sims down at all. No doubt I'll pick up all three and enjoy each of them. No matter what we like best, this IS an exciting time for flight simmers! :D

You don't mean the SimHQ Strike Fighters forum? :D :) :o :?

:D

As for keeping the quality up via skunkworks, well yes we are hoping for that to happen...

...I know your talking about the FM's and stuff, but maybe you want to see some of the most recent stuff that we (or more specifically Slueth) have been doing, hes made these airbases up in FS2002 and is a simulated view of Ubon Airbase in Vietnam, I tell you they are a real eye openers

one word.

WOW

You bring up some good points on Strike Fighters Weasy, here's my take:

I've seen several player of several different games be effected by a new games release date. The colder it is, the more people tend to find indoor activites. I think this will hurt Lomac to some degree, depending on how late in the Spring they tend to release it. Your casual newbies may hold off on the sim to buy a new Moutain Bike.

Strike Fighters, however, needs to get the gold out before Xmas. And from what I'm hearing, this is exactly what TK and the rest are working so diligently to do. Hat's off to everyone that's working so hard to make this game suceed.

As for the click-pits, don't worry, LOMAC will not have them.

Cheers
