Wallaroo 0 Posted August 13, 2009 von Hantelman - certainly an ace!; and 'Mick' Mannock was a pretty dab hand the time he was chasing around in this SE.
Peeppu 207 Posted August 13, 2009 Yes, this is von Hantelmann´s Fokker, but on 17 June 1918 was this Fokker D.VII borrowed by Kurt Wüsthoff. JG II engaged a group of S.E.5a's of No. 24 Squadron and Wüsthoff was seriously wounded in both legs, landing the D.VII behind enemy lines, taken prisoner. Olham 164 Posted August 14, 2009 (edited) Yeah, looks very good! I'm interested in that DM - do you fly it over the 1.32c patch? Oh, and how is the SPAD VII? Edited August 14, 2009 by Olham

RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 16, 2009 Up bright and early to find Fredrick Krieg of FFA23 assigned a patrol of the northern sectors. Got up into the clouds of a crisp September morning over Flanders only to lose sight of my flight. But shortly thereafter came upon a trio of BE2's running a recon. I slowly swung onto the tail of the trailing aircraft and let fly with several good volleys. They took almost no evasive action...and never jumped. Two more candles will burn in Blighty for it's lost sons. Lou
Olham 164 Posted August 16, 2009 Great shots, Lou! Hope you like to fly both sides now. What anti-aliasing do you use, and what video card?
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 16, 2009 Thanks Olham. I run a Nvidia 9800 GTX+ with anti-aliasing currently set at 16xQ. Cheers! Lou
Olham 164 Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) Still haven't found out, how to get better anti-aliasing. When I set it in the sim's graphic setup, it seems to get lost again. I've chosen it in my ATI card's config, but it doesn't look as good as your pics, Lou. Well anyway - here's from my latest fight with MFJ 1, against RNAS-1. Edited August 16, 2009 by Olham
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 16, 2009 Olham, I adjust my graphics card settings directly through the card's control panel, not the sim's, and I pick it as a global setting. Then I set up other graphics profiles for other programs if I need them. I have never lost my card settings for OFF by using this method. And from the looks of your pics Olham you really only need to get the anti-aliasing setting to stay up where you set it. Everything else looks very good. Cheers! Bullethead 12 Posted August 19, 2009 On the way home from another useless recon hop due to horrific weather, the 2 survivors of my 6 Jasta 13 escorts met 3 more Camels (I think we met about 15 total on this trip, plus some SPADs). Considering 4 of them had already died to save my flight, and being utterly bored with being just passive bait, I ordered my flight to attack. My last 2 escorts, however, were pretty good pilots and killed 2 of the Camels before my slow Hannover could arrive. And just as I was opening fire on the last one, a Jasta 13 pilot shot its wings off. I got a few hits but no credit. Pitty--it looks in this pic like I got him
Olham 164 Posted August 19, 2009 Yes, I thought you had him shot up. Does the Hannover have a double tail elevator?
Bullethead 12 Posted August 20, 2009 Does the Hannover have a double tail elevator? Yup. The biplane tail was to give the observer a better field of fire while still providing the same control authority and stabilization of a conventional tail, or so the story goes. But in all actuality, the only thing the Hannover has better than the Fee is an ROC that lasts longer than 10,000 feet. Speed's about equal. The Hannover has a gun for the pilot but inferior roll rate, inferior turn rate, inferior acceleration, and inferior bomb load. OTOH, the Fee is a fighter, after all
Olham 164 Posted August 20, 2009 Thanks. Lou, and sorry, must have overlooked your above answer. Bullet, the single seat fighter for you could be the SPAD. An incredible craft. I have already 5 claims in 4 missions, one confirmed (the French seem to be faster there than the Germans). And when you do all the right things, you should never be in real danger; the only thing that could stop you is a good shooter with a deflection shot.
