Help the Germans with claim report

Hi guys, first posting here. I have a question for y'all since you're on the subject of the claim form. In the past I have filled them out both ways, singly, and as a group. All I ever write is "shot x number of (whatever a/c) and it was seen to crash". Period. No dates, altitudes, locations, etc. The only thing besides the above that I added were the names of the witnesses. Now, on my career in the French Air Service flying Nieuports that got me 18 victories with only one rejection.

 

Now, the other day I started an RFC career flying Pups. I put in claims for six a/c destroyed (one group of two, and one group of four). I wrote them up in the same was as those above, but all were rejected out of hand.

 

Is there something I am doing wrong? Both were written up the same way. I would be nice to know if the rejections we get are due to a mistake we are making in filling out the paperwork, or if there is a problem with the claim itself.

 

Olham, I always abbreviate NE,SE, NW, SW.

In the first few days of OFF3 before all the threads on this topic, I was (sadly) putting in a bare minimum of details, and got a few claims confirmed, others denied.

 

What I would REALLY like to know now is, if I shoot down 2 Fokker EIII's in a mission, do I enter it under one claim line (ie: choose 2 on the number of A/C drop down menu)

OR do I enter them separately on 2 claim lines (ie: choose 1 and 1 if they are the same a/c type)???

 

It seems to me that if claims are confirmed with some element of randomness (and this seems to be the case for me), that version 2 has a better chance of squeaking by at least one of them.

Sorry by the noob question, but how can I fill all the details required (height, local in the map,time of mission,WITNESS?)Do i have to take notes?

I finally finish my first mission in the tripe, had sucessfully attacked an airstripe,take mg hits, survived, and after that downed two Alb DIII.But I wasn´t able to fill correctly my claims, all I could write was that I downed two Alb but don´t had any clues if I had a witness.I suspect that after all the hard work I probably will not have any credits at all.I had tryed to review the mission to fill in more acurately my claims but was impossible, the screen was obliterated by the claim form...

Hi, Luiz

Before the flight, you read the briefing. There you find your mission task, takeoff time,

the names of your wingmen, the total flight distance etc.

You may decide to press "alternative flight" (or how it's called), until you like the route and distance.

[now, write on a pad or note book: mission task, names of wingmen, takeoff time.

Make sure, you have petrol for the flight distance filled up, plus 30 - 50% reserve.]

 

When I enter air combat, I press "pause", and note, how many opponents I see, which plane types;

and you can even switch "labels" on, to see, if there are aces among them.

When you really destroyed an enemy plane, you will receive a blue message on top of the screen.

Press "pause", press "Z" - now you get red text with a lot of data, including exact time and altitude.

Write these two down. Now open your map, and check, were the plane was shot down (north of Arras;

or "southwest of Bertincourt airfield").

When you collected these data, you fly on.

Later, you should write ALL your wingmen into the report, cause you will hardly know, WHO might have

witnessed your kills.

Now many may say, that kills the immersion a lot. True - but I can't remember all this any other way.

I used to pause the game, open the map and find the nearest aerodrome. Now I just open the map and locate the nearest big town (no more pausing). My reports are very brief ("Engaged three scouts approx 15 miles north east of Amiens, fired bursts into one and he was observed to go down out of control and crash into the ground"). I've had such claims confirmed.

 

What did a real pilot do? It was interesting to see the scene in Der Rote Baron, where one of the German pilots quickly marked his kill on the map he had in a thigh-pocket. X marks the spot.

Please don't misunderstand me, I don't want to "work the sim" to my advantage, just didn't know if there was something I was doing right or wrong. I wasn't whining about having my claims rejected. However, just as there was some kind of logic back then, no matter how ill-based it may have been, to rejecting a pilot's claim, there might have been some kind of logic in this as well. I was jut curious.

Bottom line with me is this: I find my reward in the warm and fuzzy I get knowing I shot down some Germans, and doing my part. :wink: :i-m_so_happy: :smile2:
