i fight by 1 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Usually when I try to open a file via winzip I have no problem, but sometimes I this happens... What do I do when this happens? It usually looks like this, Edited April 25, 2009 by i fight by 1 Quote
Coot Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I don't know about your question but I've been using for several years now IZArc for my archiving and extraction needs. It supports a ton of the most common file formats including rar and such and its easy to use. I haven't had trouble with it yet. http://www.izarc.org/ Quote
i fight by 1 Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Anybody? I don't think its a problem, I just have no idea what to do next :| Quote
+Dave Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Don't use winzip, use 7zip or winrar...then that problem goes away. Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Yep, I'm a militant radical 7zip fundamentalist. ~> http://www.7-zip.org/ I noticed it was used by the mods at Column5 SF cold war downloads ( http://www.column5.us/ ). So tried it and never went back. Czech it out. I haven't tried IZarc....sounds interesting Coot. Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I am begiining to abhor Izarc. Unless you uncompress the entire folder in a place and then cut and paste, it is a PITA. Say you go 3 folders deep, and there is a sub to extract as well. The whole prior path is there, and the items in the sub are not. Annoying... Quote
ndicki Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I've used Winzip for years and never had that. Having said that, I've now got 7z as well - Column5 oblige - and it works very well. Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Not WinZip, Izarc. Winzip I love, used to use it's predecessor, PKZip for DOS, just to date myself. I wish everything was in Zip format, even Windows caught up and can use it natively. RAR is a throwback to Haxx0rs who use 733t-speak, IMHO... Quote
Lt. James Cater Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Not knowing anything about this stuff i got 7-zip via Column5 and it's been smooth sailing. I do agree with Spectre though, things are much easier dealing with Zips rather than RAR. Quote
Coot Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) I don't much about it either but I don't recall having problems with izarc. I just download an addon, extract it to a temporary folder where I can see the files and readme, then move the files into the game. Edited April 30, 2009 by Coot Quote
