Has anyone vacationed in Branson, Mo?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find a nice place to vacation in early September. I've decided on Branson, but have never been there. I'm looking for a log cabin type of setting where we could set up a campfire, etc.

Any help or tips from a personal experience?

A google search using "rental cabins+Branson" came up with some that I've looked at already.

Thanks!

Jeff

Not sure about the lodging question. But when you get to Branson make sure you check out the Veterans Museum. It's an incredible collection of information of all the U.S. servicemen and women who have given their lives since the Civil War. Great place for any patriotic military history buff, who is proud of their country and the people who have served it.

Dave and Raven,

Can you elaborate? Why did it blow goats?

I know it's going to be expensive, but is it a rip off? I've been to Disney World quite a few times and am used to that sort of thing. Any similiarities?

Thanks all.

I don't know, but if I had to pick 10 places in the US I'd like to take a vacation in, I'm pretty sure no where in MO would be on the list.

If you want to do the log cabin thing, try either the Rocky or Smoky Mountains. Done both (Colorado, Georgia, NC) and I enjoyed them all.

Its a tourist trap rip off. Place is a dump too. Go back to Disney, you would have more fun. You only see the good parts in the pics.

Go to Gatlinburg,TN and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.

Down the Road from the House here. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge is a Maxxed out Branson. Alot of Tourist Shops out to get alot of Your Money......Dollywood comes to mind. If You want to Camp and get the Bang for Your Buck, Try Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountians. It's inbetween Gatlinburg and Townsend, TN. Or Qualla Village in Cherokee, NC. It's on the Indian Res with Camping in the Mountians and a Casino to boot.......Besides, September is U.T. Football Season. Everything will be Orange.......

Yellowstone is nice, especially after Labor Day when there are not so many people there. If you haven't been there before, it is one of those places like the Grand Canyon, if you are an American you need to make your way there in your lifetime.

I've been to the Grand Canyon twice, although the 2nd time was just a brief helo tour, and I'd go there again!

If it's summer, go to the NORTH rim. You won't care too much for the south rim in the heat!

When I go on holdiay I go south to FL Cocoa Beach, I love it down there. Not to busy great food, great beach. The JFK space Center right next door, Patrick AFB is right there. Always some military or civil plane just at minimums off the beech the occasional Nasa T-38, AF C-130's, AF Black Hawks. Missed the Cocoa Beach airshow few years back. But we saw a lot of stuff coming in to bad we had to leave theday before.

The airshow in 03 or 04 (i can't remember which) was a big one as the Blue Angles AND the T-birds showed up.

I missed the show (I'm not big on the massive crowd thing) but the day before a lot of the planes arrived and it was great watching them land. The best part was at lunch time the 2 solo BA's practiced over the river for over an hour! Me and 2 other guys just stood over by the Honor Guard building and watched them for maybe 70 mins ... no crowd!!
