zagnut Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Hey Guys, I just dl'd SF2 Europe, and wow... This thing is a crash monster. I disabled the Anti-Virus software, plus all the firewall junk, and I'll get a clean install. Symptoms include: CTD's at any time, no display of aircraft at time of campaign choosing, and if a mission loads, the plane explodes on the runway. I also patched the thing too. I don't get it. This is made for Vista and it's flunking out big time! Can anyone help??? Guidance appriciated! Quote
+Fubar512 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Did you add any mods, or perform any .ini edits? Do you have the latest DirectX runtime installed? Are your display and audio drivers current? Quote
+column5 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Guidance appriciated! Overall we have seen very few instability issues with the SF2 series, so there is definitely something wrong. Can you give us your system specs? Quote
zagnut Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 Overall we have seen very few instability issues with the SF2 series, so there is definitely something wrong. Can you give us your system specs? Sorry about that, I was in a rush when I typed that. All drivers and DX is up to snuff. Although, I can't remember what to type into the command line to get my spec readout. No mods either, no .ini tweaking. Pure vanilla install from the 3rdwire site. Thanks Quote

+column5 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Just from the sound of it, I think you have a corrupted installation, or a corrupted download. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling? You might have to download again (if your download link is not active anymore, you may have to post on TK's forum). Quote
zagnut Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 I DL'd twice already, uninstalled and re-installed 4 times.... +sony tuckson Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 This doesn't speak about the video element looking at CPU, you are talking about a laptop I'd really run a scandisk, as thirdwire series is not known to cause CTD like that BTW, did you run other games? Quote
+EricJ Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I'm running SF2E off of a laptop, and no issues at all whatsoever. Really strange behavior though.. Quote
+Fubar512 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Sony, it has an integrated GeForce 9800 w/1024 mb of texture memory. Zagnut, I must ask again did you install the latest DX? Namely, this version: http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details...;displaylang=en In my experience, the majority of Third Wire sim issues such as yours can be traced back DirectX issues. Quote
jomni Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Sony, it has an integrated GeForce 9800 w/1024 mb of texture memory. My laptop with slower processor and Intel integrated garphics can run this game. There is indeed something really strange. Quote
