Claim form shortened by quite a bit

Recommended Posts

I was flying last night and happened to encounter AFC-2 and Jasta 23 doing a number on each other. My wingman and I headed into combat to help AFC-2 out (we are members of AFC-4). I must either be better than I thought or REALLY lucky because I was able to down 5 Pfalz IIIa's in about 6 minutes (on 100% realism no less)! Needless to say when we got back to our Aerodrome I had a lot of explaining to do. I wrote the description for all the kills in the one claim slot. I put all 5 kills into 1 claim slot because it was all 1 event more or less. I was constantly breaking off of one and onto the next. When I finished the claim form and submitted it I looked in my claim log and it only showed my description of my 1st kill! It still shows that I claimed 5 but only showed my description of 1, and didnt show my wittnesses either. Anyone know why?

Another question: This happened almost exactly on top of a friendly airfield, can I list that airfield as a wittness? What about the AFC-2 airmen that were up there as well? In the wittness form it says to only put the first and last name of a wittness so I'm a bit confused.

LOVING this game so far! What a blast!

Is the remainder of your text on the next page in your logbook?

Rather than putting the airfield name as a witness, try to explain where the dogfight took place or the enemy planes crashed in relationship to the airfield. Example: "The enemy planes all crashed northwest of Douai airfield."

I'll give that a try next time. I don't think the claim covers 2 pages because since then I have made another claim and it shows up below the one in question.

First of all, glad to see another pilot enjoying OFF. It is a great game.

As far as naming that airfield as a wittness. I have not tried that before, but in my claim form I will make a note at the end. "Enemy machine wittnessed crashed near (aredrome name)." or " Enemy craft downed in flames north west of (aredrome name)." My kill confirmations have been quite high. I do not think the "Exact" lat and long are necessary. But again this is all just from my 'limited' experience in game. Also, claiming 5 on one form is not unlike putting all of your eggs in one basket. If the home office is prepared to credit you with 4 confirmed kills but you have put in a claim form of 5 kills you will recieve none! I try to make it a practice, when in engagements that result in multiple enemy machines downed, to either break up the claim into two smaller claims, or simply claim a more conservative number (say 3, if you got 4 or 5 you'll at least get credit for 3). That has helped my confirmation percentage. I usually get about a 90% confirmation now, as before i was getting 50-60%.

S!

Hi Ryan, welcome to our little group. Sounds like you had a hell of a fight and gave 'em bloody 'ell. Good. You've gotten good advice for the form. Now see about staying alive long enough to see them confirmed.

In my claim reports, I also can only read the first three or four lines, then it breaks off;

no witnesses - just the next report starting. Anyone else has that?

So I'm not sure if anyone has found a solution to this (or cares) but its because of the semicolon key. If you use a semicolon in your report it thinks thats the end.

(sorry to kick back up an old thread)

Hey, Ryan - if that's true, you really helped me a lot! (Never read the old thread).

I will try without semicolons and see if it works.

Perhaps the "staff wallahs" see a semi-colon as a wink, and think you are pulling their leg a bit, and simply do not read any further.

Yeah, or they are so stupid, that they meditate about the question, whether it is a komma or a full stop.

But seriously now: I looked into the log files, and indeed the semicolon is used as a stop sign, to split

the report in parts written by the program, and your report text.

So, DON'T USE SEMICOLONS in the claims reports, everyone!
