even if it's set to max altitude, you'll mostly fly in medium altitude between 2000 and 6000 meters. i would recommend to set it to max alt and maximum flight density (not to mix it up with air activity!) and tightest formation. for me it seems most realistic. the chance of colliding with another mate with tightest formation is even lower because they are not spread around that far and it's easier to overview the more narrow bunch.

I wish I was a hunter.

I try to be shooter.

Usually within a few missions I'm just a victim.

 

None the less, I have one hell of a time in the air and that's really what it's all about.
