...would it be too difficult to implement a new map for campaign missions, the default map looks too pixelated and sketchy, a new map with better quality, would make reviewing missions much more enjoyable, thanks in advance.

Sorry for not checking past threads , and yes, I consider it to be a simple thing to change but at the same time a great improvement for the GUI, isn´t it?

I think they looked at a higher resolution map but it lowered fps or some other ill effect

But don't worry, Devs here have solved lots of big issues and untold numbers of little ones

I'm confident they'll work something out ...just may take a little time

The current map is HUGE, so is pixellated because only a small area is used for each flight and is extremely 'blown up'. The crappiness of the map is obvious to all, and I have no doubt would have been improved long ago if it was easy. Winder has posted about all the problems associated with fixing this...map file becomes huge if you go hi res, not to mention the need to rescale everything about how the map functions in the game. Nope, not easy. Then again, never underestimate what these guys can pull out of their hats...we have seen many a rabbit appear in the past :)

So far, it looks like the ingame high res maps are not possible. You might consider using some of the printable maps that are available for dl on CA-OFF I did some restorations of early WWI maps and some others added a lot of historical info to them.

yeah, no problem... I have an Argonne map still sitting on my PC waiting to find the time to finish putting the airfields in....

 

I tried updating the ingame map myself and found that it was just too hard to get the right coordiantes with the maps I was trying to use and it would take a pile (I mean a pile!!) of work to get one that was fairly legible and still usable and accurate to ingame situations... I would figure that it would take a couple months at least... and even then, I don't know what it would do to FPS.... I never went that far... I should just upload a high resolution pic into and test it out...
