Germany will mourn his passing

Recommended Posts

drinks.gif Today I lift a cold one in honor of my best DiD pilot: Ferdinand Boelcke (Oswald's little known cousin) . He flew with courage and perhaps a small amount or wrecklessness. The only regret he ever had was foolishly attacking a squadron he had no hope of defeating and knowing his wingmen wouldnt escape alive either...sad.gif

For you Ferdinand! Salute.gifSalute.gifSalute.gifFlyer.gif godspeed.

OH Ryan,

I'm so sorry to see an ace of Jasta 2 die! We're going to miss him for sure. And we're going to drink for him at the Offiziers klub this afternoon.

.

Gott im Himmel! Ryan you must have flown day and night non-stop in order to accrue that tally in your short time in the OFF skies. How did you manage to keep young Ferdinand alive that long and in that kind of action? He must have been one of the blessed. The Vaterland will most certainly mourn his loss.

And that is the first time I've seen the two highest German/Prussian honours in this sim. They look so nice in the pilot's log.

Wow, Ryan, I haven't gotten those last two medals yet in BHaH! Looking good!

Next time, when you have got that far - fly him with much more care. He won't

need to gather many victories nor medals then anymore - he would need to

stay alive.

I know how it feels to lose such a long-lived pilot. The lure of fame and awards is great, but actually it would be best to forget about the medals and just try to survive from one mission and day to another. It's a long war (if you don't start your campaign too late!), so if you can stay alive, the kills will come and the medals too. It's just so hard to learn to be less aggressive...

Thanks for the kind words guys. I knew the Pour le Merite was a high raking award but the other one I had no idea. I'm starting a new pilot for Britain today, flying a Pup in April 1917, RFC 46. See you in the skys soon Salute.gif
