+elephant Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Hi all, Thanks for the warm wellcome yesteray! Today I got the whole bunch of SF2 series... :) Downloading now the bonus merged install. Is there a comulative mod that's easy to intall... (Drop it in your game directory, saying), to start with? 'cause even if I'm a rather experienced in IL-2 modding, I'm having a hard time here. I didn't manage anything to work yesterday... In IL-2 we have a mod activator that makes your life easy. Things here remind me the first steps of IL-2 modding with lots of editing work needed... I spend all day yesterday, reading topics here on modding but... things elementaty to you who play and mod for years seem mountains to me... Thanks Quote
+MigBuster Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 My advice is play the games for a bit first and get used to them. The modding is normally drag and drop and manual editing of ini files in Notepad in a lot of cases which is easy (90% of mods) but time consuming and will take some getting used to. As for all in one mods - there are some out there - but you have to have the correct game and patch version for them to work correctly without further modding by yourself. Some maybe updated for SF2 like Operation Desert Storm - but the ammount of work involved is immense. SF2 is fairly recent - everything for SF2 is in the SF2 downloads section. You can make older things work - theres as an SF2 section in the knowledge base. If you add a mod do it carefully 1 by 1 otherwise you will just have to start again - the sim is really stable if you do it correctly. for modding you need to get the hang of extracting file from .cats and using the correct weapons and guns editors for your game. Be aware that most mods - particullarly Jets - which are easy to add - still need correct weapons loadouts or the correct sound files or associations - again there are articles in the SF2 KB to help If you are into this sort of thing then you will have years of fun - happy hunting 1 Quote
