Changing pylons and rails?

Recommended Posts

Ive been playing around with my F-16A Nets, adding SAHM support for it on the two mid wing stations. I am using the jet in my merc campaign and i'm playing with the thought that i got it upgraded to carry 2 SAHM missiles :grin:

Anyways. I added the SAHM in the _data.ini

Like this:

[LeftMidWingStation]

SystemType=WEAPON_STATION

StationID=3

StationGroupID=3

StationType=EXTERNAL

AttachmentPosition=-3.03,-0.86,-0.48

AttachmentAngles=0.0,-3.0,0.0

LoadLimit=1134.0

AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,LGB,ARM,TER,RP,EOGR,TLR,EP,SAHM

AttachmentType=NATO,USAF,ISRAEL

ModelNodeName=pylon_middle_L

PylonMass=118.39

PylonDragArea=0.02

LaunchRailNodeName=mav_rail_L

LaunchRailHeight=0.07

LaunchRailMass=61.23

[RightMidWingStation]

SystemType=WEAPON_STATION

StationID=4

StationGroupID=3

StationType=EXTERNAL

AttachmentPosition= 3.03,-0.86,-0.48

AttachmentAngles=0.0,-3.0,0.0

LoadLimit=1134.0

AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,LGB,ARM,TER,RP,EOGR,TLR,EP,SAHM

AttachmentType=NATO,USAF,ISRAEL

ModelNodeName=pylon_middle_R

PylonMass=118.39

PylonDragArea=0.02

LaunchRailNodeName=mav_rail_R

LaunchRailHeight=0.07

LaunchRailMass=61.23

The problem is that when i arm the jet with the missiles they are attached to the bomb pylon so to speak. I hope you guys understand what i mean. Is it possible to change so that the regular missile rails/pylons are used when i pick the missiles?

Thanx

You simply need to add the appropriate missile rail to the data and loadout.ini.

How does that work? I cannot find any entries in the current loadout.ini that are specifyng any rails. Only place where i have found any rail information is under the Weapon category in the data.ini as you can see in my previouse post. Correct me if i'm wrong :good:

Example:

[AirToAir]

Loadout[01].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[01].Quantity=1

Loadout[02].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[02].Quantity=1

Loadout[10].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[10].Quantity=1

Loadout[11].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[11].Quantity=1

[AirToAirLongRange]

Loadout[01].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[01].Quantity=1

Loadout[02].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[02].Quantity=1

Loadout[05].WeaponType=Tank370_F16

Loadout[05].Quantity=1

Loadout[06].WeaponType=Tank370_F16

Loadout[06].Quantity=1

Loadout[10].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[10].Quantity=1

Loadout[11].WeaponType=Python3

Loadout[11].Quantity=1

You can specify missile or bomb racks in the loadout.ini as well:

Loadout[XX].WeaponType=

Loadout[XX].Quantity=

Loadout[XX].RackType=[Racktype_Name]

Did not know that :good: Thank you very much. Is there somewhere where i can find all the racks/rails and so on, the names of them?

I would suggest, before editing the loadout.ini, to first check the SAHMs you mean to use (AIM-7 Sparrow versions, I guess). See with the weapon editor if the missiles have the "Use missile rail" option checked.

Alternatively open the weapondata file and look in each missile entry for the following: "RailLaunched=TRUE"

That should solve it.

By the way, which sim is this and which F-16A (MF one or default WOI one)?

Svetlin

Im running the SF2 Combo pack and its the Stock F-16A Netz. Right now i have it set up so that the sidewinder rails are taking sparrows aswell. But i have a hard time beliving that that tiny little rail can support a massive missile as the sparrow :heat:

Edit: I just checked and the sparrows do not have RailLaunched set on True. Its false.

If you would like to give a try, set it to TRUE for one Sparrow type, for example AIM-7M and load it in game to see the effect. If it does not help, you could easily change it back to FALSE.

I will look into it. Atleast now i know where to look :grin: Thanks for the help.
