Ltn Josef Raesch DVIIF skin uploaded

Recommended Posts

Hi Chaps

Just to let you know, my latest skin has been uploaded.

Features the DVIIF of Ltn Josef Raesch (some of you may recognise it)

A little about the Airman himself:-

Lieutenant Josef Raesch (born 4 June 1897, date of death unknown) flew with Jasta 43.

He was credited with seven aerial victories, two of which were over other aces, Guy Wareing and Ernest Charles Hoy.

On 26th July 1918, he was forced to abandon his burning DVII and parachuted to safety

2 months later, he was given a Pfaltz DXII but was unhappy with the new fighter..and he wrote: "I am very unhappy with the Pfaltz. It does not climb well, is clumsy in turns, and will not keep up with the formation"

I hope you enjoy flying her (and of course, thanks go to the OBD guys..as always for allowing us to enjoy our 'side' hobby!)

Just noticed FRO has already done this skin..oops...oh well, can never have too many I always say!..hahahahaha

Good one, Widowmaker!

FRO has not done me a favour really by literally flooding the "skin section" with his piles of stuff.

I would have much preferred a skin of his here and there, but with more love and time invested.

Seems he has even done skins again, that the OFF skinners had already made much better.

But that's just my humble opinion, of course.

Thank you Olham...yes, I must admit there was a huge amount of DVII's and DR1's that FRO uploaded...which did kinda screw the rest of us.

Half the fun of Skinning, is doing a bit of research...finding out a little bit of 'The Man behind the conrols' so to speak...and duplicating skins is not much fun if you knowingly have to do so.

This is only my second 'historical skin' on the DVII....and even my first had a FRO version I hadn't spotted!

Excellent Widowmaker.

Your style of skinning has greatly improved, far beyond my own standard. I look forward to your future projects.

Nice skin Widow!

In WWI the Germans definately had the most distinctive fusalage paint schemes

Yet they almost always retained the simple lozenge camo on the wings

Does anyone know why?

Probably a bureaucratic directive I'm guessing
