mattux 0 Posted April 17, 2010 Hello All, first of all, really great addon this must be the best thing ever happend to CFS3. Now my problem: I'm currently flying the Nieuport 16 in Esc 67 in June 1916. But the plane has strong nose down tendency, even if the elevator trim set to 100% upwards. Also it needs constant high power settings to mantain altitude. Yes, I know WWI planes weren't as easy to fly as modern or WW2 planes, but the Nieuport 11 or Nieuport 17 don't show this behaviour. I just would like to know if I do something wrong here, because at the current state the Nieuport 16 is more or less unflyable. Ahh, and I'm using the saitek x52pro and saitek rudder rudder panels. Winston DoRight 3 Posted April 17, 2010 Yes, there's definately a problem with the Nieuport 16's flight model. I tried it ONCE in multiplayer and it requires almost 90% backstick just to keep it level. Needless to say that doesn't give you much movement for maneuvering. mattux 0 Posted April 17, 2010 Hello Guys, thanks for your answers. I've investigated this a bit further. When I just install BH&H 1.0 (Phase 3) without the super patch the behaviour is normal but after applying the super patch, the nieuport 16 needs strong elevator input to fly straight and level. As far as I can tell only the nieuport 16 is afffected by this. I wonder if anyone can thing of a workaround for this (besides not flying the plane, of course). greetings Matthias Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mattux 0 Posted April 17, 2010 Hi, I found a solution to the problem. Well, it's not really a sollution it's more of a bandaid but it seems to work quite well. Simply set the "elevator_trim_effectiveness" in the aircraft.cfg file to something like 4.0. mattux 0 Posted April 19, 2010 The reason I would like to fly the 16 is that I started with my pilot(s) in March/April 1916 with the Nieuport 11. And now I'm finally in June and would simply like to go on with the next plane of Esc 67. I didn't want to recommend messing with the aircraft config files. Ryan H 0 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Hey guys, just to shed some light on this issue: I believe this is intentional by the devs. If you do some research on the N16 you will find that they equipped it with a larger motor and a larger MG causing the craft to become quite nose-heavy. This was fixed in the N17.
