+Baltika Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 "Unimplemented feature" This from the NATIONS.INI of WoE patched to Oct '08:- [Nation002] Name=USAF DisplayName=United States Air Force Alignment=FRIENDLY PilotNameList=NamesUSAF.lst RankList=RanksUSAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=USFighter Formation.Attack=USFighter Formation.Bomber=USBomber Formation.Transport=USBomber Formation.Tank=USTank Formation.MobileAD=USAD PilotTrainingStandard=EXCELLENT GenderRatio=0 DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat <-------- OBSERVE! SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.cat Medals=MedalsUSAF.ini MedalTextFile=MedalsUSAF.str UseFAC=TRUE And this:- [Nation005] Name=Soviet DisplayName=Soviet Air Force Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NamesRussian.lst RankList=RanksRussian.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=NORMAL GenderRatio=0 DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat <-------- The same. SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.str Observation:- There is no USAFSpeech.cat file in any version of the game. There is a speech folder with a whole stack of .wav files which contain the voices you hear. But, maybe someday. . . Although, don't hold your breath. TK has responded to numerous calls for a hebrew voicepack for WoI with the answer that voice acting is very expensive. No doubt true. Meantime, have seperate installs for your Red-flyable campaigns, and use Russian voice pack for that install, e.g. :- http://combatace.com/files/file/1801-soviet-comms/ by Fubar512, or http://combatace.com/files/file/2839-gramps-russian-speech-pack/ by gramps. Dos vedanya, Tovarisch! Baltika Quote
FastCargo Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Even tried to implement via a custom cat file...no dice. FC Quote
+Baltika Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hiya FC, Yes, I remember that discussion, from a while back, even had a crack at it myself if memory serves, as you say, no dice. Would be a cool feature though, especially as there are a few different voicepacks around now. Slainthe! Baltika Quote
alex316 Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 hopefully someone will do it or thirdwire will add it because when you fly a mig and they all speak with an american accent it doesnt feel very real Quote
SFP1Ace Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) hopefully someone will do it or thirdwire will add it because when you fly a mig and they all speak with an american accent it doesnt feel very real You could always do it the hard way - install russian speech pack for Red campaigns and when you decide to switch back to the Blue - just delete it. It's far from perfect but I don't think there's any better solution ATM I'm afraid. EDIT: Oops, I haven't noticed what Baltika's written - yeah, separate installs for the Red side is much better Edited August 28, 2010 by SFP1Ace Quote
alex316 Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 how do you install gramps russian speech thanks Quote
MigBuster Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) There should be a readME - The wav files probably just need to be put into the "Speech" folder Edited August 29, 2010 by MigBuster Quote
+Gepard Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 The problem of the existing russian speech packs is, that they are not correct. It are russian phrases, but have to relation to the original TK speech files, what means, that they are nonsens for a russian native speeker. Alex, the best way to get a true russian speech set is the old "do it yourself". Take a headset with microphon, open each speech file, listen what is said and then overspeek with russian words. The same way i did it with the german speech pack. Quote
