Gosh, spanking the donkey has a different connotation in the UK.

My dad says I've just received the equivalent of Sam Spade being hit over the head with a chair, thrown outside and been told "Stay off the case."

actually, that gif is "beating a dead horse". We don't allow donkey spanking, at least not in public

Humphrey Bogart ...top films...maltese falcon...epic movie....my fave was the African Queen film...he and hepburn awesome.
