iranianace Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Hello all, This issue is in regards to Iran-Iraq War of SFP1 which is an older campaign. My problem is that I can never come up against Iraqi MiG-21 in my F-5A! I tried all the missions with F-5A and all I can come up against is Iraqi Su-17 and MiG-23. Is there a way I can modify any of the exe or dll files so that I can kill some MiG-21s? Please help. Thanks. Edited March 27, 2011 by iranianace Quote

I did try deleting MiG-23 folder but when playing, it leaves the mission without any enemy! I looked into my campaign folder and went over all the folders in there. Some of them are dll files which can not be modified and some are ini files that can be editted using notepad. I tried some editting but still nothing. Please help! Quote

malibu43 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) You don't need to edit a .dll file. The game won't work if you do. You need to make changes in the .ini files in the folder for the campaign you want to modify. Have a look through your game folder; you should be able to find them. As for what to change, there used to be a great article in the knowledge base, but I can't find it right now. Maybe someone knows where it went... But anyway, if you look through the .ini files in the campaign folder, you might be able to figure out what you need to update. Edited April 4, 2011 by malibu43 Quote

Yes as said above NEVER touch system files like dll/exe etc - the game wont work - although that stands for any Windows program!. Now one thing you can try - go into the Aircaft folder and find the MiG-23 that keeps appearing. Go into the folder, open up the MiG-23_data.ini in Notepad. find this line: [MissionData] ..... Availability=RARE <----set it to RARE ..... do that for any other jets that turn up all the time. then find the MiG-21 but set that to Availability=COMMON or Availability=VERY_COMMON Its also possible that the MiG-21 cannot be loaded into the game because there is a problem with it - so you may need to check its okay - one way to do that is make it flyable Edited April 5, 2011 by MigBuster Quote

It worked like a charm! Thank you so much man. MiG-21MF was flyable already but while I was at it, I extended its ServiceEndYear=1975--->1985 in [MissionData] so I could fight with them in single missions. There's only one more thing! It's about launching an any missiles(Sidewinder or Sparrow) in SP1. The default launch side is port side. Which ini file should I edit so that I could fire the starboard missile first? Thanks a million again. Quote
+MigBuster Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Kind of going into Falcon 4.0 territory here - there is one way to do this I know of. In the Jets _data.ini go to the weapons stations section and rearrange the order of the stations that carry A-A missiles - for example here are two weapons stations that carry IRMs (Infra Red Missiles - AIM-9,AA-2 etc): [LeftWingTipStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=10 <------------- StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-4.79,-1.31,-0.08 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-2.5,90.0 LoadLimit=125.0 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM AttachmentType=NATO,USN,ISRAEL ... [RightWingTipStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=11 <------------------ StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition= 4.79,-1.31,-0.08 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-2.5,-90.0 LoadLimit=125.0 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM AttachmentType=NATO,USN,ISRAEL ..... Now swap the values [LeftWingTipStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=11 <------------- StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-4.79,-1.31,-0.08 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-2.5,90.0 LoadLimit=125.0 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM AttachmentType=NATO,USN,ISRAEL ... [RightWingTipStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=10 <------------------ StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition= 4.79,-1.31,-0.08 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-2.5,-90.0 LoadLimit=125.0 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM AttachmentType=NATO,USN,ISRAEL ..... this will change the firing order - you will need to test it out with your pylons - change things slowly and test each time to see the results. There may be a variable that specifies the firing order - but you will need to ask TK about that Quote
iranianace Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 MiGBuster, You did it again! Thanks a million, man. Worked like a charm. You are my hero! Thank you. Quote
