Olham 164 Posted December 7, 2011 Inspired by the post "Camel", I took a little trip south from Sierentz into Switzerland. When I reached a town with a river running through it, I paused and noted the coordinates from the inflight map. Later I went to Google Maps and checked them. The green dart in the satelite pic is the position I had, when I took the above screenshot. The blue angle is my view angle. I find it always asthonishing, how landmarks you see in flight are really in their correct position according to Google Satelite Maps.
Shiloh 12 Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) That's amazing. It even has the same basic 'V' shape to it. Beautiful country down there ehhh? Edited December 7, 2011 by Shiloh
Olham 164 Posted December 7, 2011 Yes, indeed. In nicer weather, I might have flown on to Italy. If you press your key for "Zoom out", the inflight map shows more and more - until Italy appears.
foreigndevil 0 Posted December 7, 2011 Looks very nice in OFF! But didn't you get locked up for flying over neutral country in a warplane?
Olham 164 Posted December 7, 2011 I didn't land. They'd first have to get me.
Hasse Wind 46 Posted December 7, 2011 Nice pics! I have a career pilot stationed at Sierentz. A nice place, far away from the nasty big battles. Sitzkrieg at its best.
Olham 164 Posted December 7, 2011 Hey, then you must be eating with Hasse Wind in the same mess? He has a Roland pilot there!

TaillyHo 2 Posted December 7, 2011 Word of warning for any half-hearted joy-flights over Switzerland. I took one of my early German campaign pilots, based at Sierentz, for just such a flight. Flew down at low level having a nice look around, unchallenged by EA and feeling ever safer as I was away from the red line of the OFF battlefront. After a while I decided I'd seen enough and couldn't be bothered flying all the way back to Sierentz, so just pressed Esc and ended the mission . . . Captured (in neutral territory) and POW for the remainder of the war. Pilot inactive - campaign over. So by all means fly (illegally) over neutral Switzerland - but do not attempt to land (or exit your flight) until you are safely back over your own territory! Damn, that comes from always changing the avatars, Herrgottnochmal!!! I had thought it was Dej! (I was really asthonished about Dej flying a German campaign in Sierentz... Holidays? Yeah, why not? ... Dumdidumm; my brain is like a sieve, didumm! ...) Hasse Wind Dej ...only their mother would know who is who!
