This is probably one of the 'Hercules' employement among the best known, except in its gunship convertion, or used as the Poles supplier. Even the recovery version is not entitled to this interest from the fans.

I knew one of the guys who flew those, he was my Air Wing Commander in later years.

 

It was an evaluation to determine if this could be done. The determination was that it was technically feasible, but not operationally practical, and so never went past the experimental stage.
