Olham 164 Posted July 11, 2012 At "The Aerodrome" website I found this photo of the Jasta 19 duty board. I made a translation of it, cause I found it an interesting detail to share.

Hasse Wind 46 Posted July 11, 2012 Very interesting! It looks like they didn't have data from altitudes higher than 1500 - 2000 metres. That guy on the right had his head on the wrong spot, blocking the view.
DukeIronHand 8 Posted July 12, 2012 Very interesting Olham and thanks for the translation. Based on the A/C types I will guess late 1916/early 1917?
Olham 164 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Based on the A/C types I will guess late 1916/early 1917? The first D.III arrived at the front in January 1917 (AFAIK). According to OFF / Shredward's historical data Jasta 19 was fully equipped with the D.III on 11 March 1917. So, our photo might be from 28 - 29 February. JFM 18 Posted July 12, 2012 1917 wasn't a leap year, so not February. Also, keep in mind that just because D.IIIs arrived, that didn't mean D.IIs disappeared instantly. I'd say probably not January, because the D.IIIs were grounded during Jan 28/29 and wouldn't be available to fly. IMO, earliest would be March. Kögler was "severely wounded" in the foot 12 May, but I don't know any details about his recovery. During summer J19 had DVs in the Staffel, as well as DIII(OAW)s. Perhaps between March-May, March-June. I'll run it past GvW and see if he can add some info.
Olham 164 Posted July 12, 2012 Didn't think of the leap year. Good points, JFM. And more info would be great.
+elephant 36 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Looks like a sunny day, from the shadows in the picture. Jim's probably right... Edited July 12, 2012 by elephant
