I have just found this book title "Hauptmann Boelckes Feldberichte" (1916).

 

 

 

I wonder, if anyone here actually read this book?

And if you did know the above title - is there a better book about Boelcke you would recommend?

I'd like to get a better insight into the person Oswald Boelcke.

Olham I have an original 1917 first English translation of this little volume, titled "An Aviator's Field Book". It is Boelcke's own field reports from 1 August 1914 to 28 October 1916. It's an excellent albeit brief read and is well worth the investment, IMHO.

Olham, earlier I recommended to you Professor Johannes Werner's book Boelcke der Mensch, der Flieger, der Führer der deutschen Jagdfliegerei. You should be able to find it from Abebooks or somewhere similar.

On a whim, I went to amazon.com to check it out. They have it! Oddly enough, a new hard-back copy is $16 while used copies go for $27. (go figure) I got the new copy, but they did not specify whether it was in German or English. If it's in German, someone in Europe will be getting a Christmas present.

I have found several copies of the original 1916 print for cheap prices.

Since I want to read it in German, I have ordered one of them now.

always the original if possible, then there is nothing lost in translation, although in that case there isn't too much which could get lost.

got mine to today. Not often that you hold a 1916 book in your hands.

 

Old German is challanging, for a non German that is.
