Recall, Oleg Maddox survived two Moscow car accidents within a few months, and kept on on coding (he did get hurt some though). : A third prototype, known as IL-3, was built and flown in early 1926. It went to state trials on March and was flown by A.I. Sharapov, but it was destroyed because of an unrecovered spin.
