FastCargo 412 Posted October 21, 2012 I just read about this today. The review I read said the FM is very nice. But, it's lonely...it is pretty much just you, no AI air or ground traffic. No radio chatter, etc. The scenery is photoreal satellite textures over a nice height map in Switzerland. But there are no dynamic shadows on the terrain...the shadows you see are baked into the texture. It sounds fun, but it might get a little boring after a while because of the lack of atmosphere... MigBuster 2,884 Posted October 21, 2012 Was talked about a while back on various sites - the scenery is nice!
WACO 2 Posted October 21, 2012 After the horrid debacle known as MS Flight I am hoping another sim will come on to the scene. Yes there is X-Plane, tried it, hated it for a great many reasons. Fingers crossed this is just the start of something greater!
JFM 18 Posted October 22, 2012 If so, it seems there are years to go. Meanwhile, for now its still FSX for my civilian simming. Although I'm mostly flying the A2A B-17 these days.
Dimus 0 Posted October 25, 2012 I bought it but got bored of it very quickly for the reasons FastCargo mentions. Too lonely and with lack of atmosphere. The graphics and the lighting effects are nice and the FPS are high. IMHO the FM is not good in all planes. This was developed from an RC simulator and the planes still feel a bit RC. Not all airports are detailed but the ones that are look stunning. Perhaps it could be developed in to something better as there are good things about it. I believe that the key to longetivity of a sim is the open architecture and MS got it right with the FS and CFS series but unfortunately not with the "Flight" fiasco. Baldric 42 Posted October 25, 2012 I had a quick read about aerofly but seeing as how I've just returned to civvy flight simming by finally investing in FSX (only played the first MSFS in the mid-80's, then got hooked by Microprose for combat fs'ing) I decided just to focus on the one. Tried Flight but quickly found it not to my liking, same with Xplane, and decided if I was going civvy it would be FSX. Currently having a lot of fun with Air Hauler, running REX and some ORBx scenery. Toying with the idea of picking up a copy of FSPassenger, and a Lancaster if there was a recommended model.
