German bomber sight ....

Recommended Posts

I made this thing for He 111 and Ju 88

Its set up as CCIP sight, looking VERY loosely like a German Lotfe sight reticle .. sort of.

The 2 triangles are roll tabs to make it easier to keep wings level

Usage:

- near target, select bombs, open bombbay if required

- switch cockpit OFF ( Numpad DEL by default) and move the view full down ( Numpad arrows or CTRL+arrows or wahtever the keys are) until the sight comes into view

- use Zoom to further change the view as required

( looks a bit like looking through a sight .... with some imagination ...

- line up the target early, use small roll inputs

- push into a shallow dive at high altitude to get the reticle into view and better aiming

- drop bombs when bottom edge of target hits top edge of the horizontal yellow line

And I updated the bomb positions on the A-Team He 111 to make them sit properly in the vertical bays

That is a very nice solution.

Almost perfect for SF other than not blacking out the area outside of the reticle.

How accurate is it from 6-8 km of altitude?

Could you post the edits for the He-111 bomb positions? I was planning to attempt that fix at some point.

If bombs are dropped just a split second too late it looks like that...

Havent tested from high alt ... 5 km or so was max alt so far

Dropping a stick of 8x 250 kg bombs from a steady level flight with hitting the bomb button at the right time its accurate enough ...

Proper interval setting is also important

Now add some enemy fighters to the scenario and things get interesting....

The He 111 H-4 is using only the first 8 positions

heh, my idea from 2008, but series 1 only  -I used back then black TGA for bombight outside the actual sight to block the view, like in CFS3 for example, try it such way

Yea I was pretty sure that its not a new invention ;D

I thought about blacking out the area surrounding the sight but since the bombardier can look away from the sight and through the cockpit nose glazing

I decided to keep the area clear ....

Perhaps making a version 2 with blacked out area ...

Actually thats a even more interesting way of bombing.. then the player has to adjust view angle manually for early target acquiring and lineup... hmmm..
