I've been messing about with the Mirage 3C templates and was pretty amazed at how easy it is to come up with a new skin (provided all the layers are there of course).

 

It made me think of creating new skins for the Dhimari airforce, but for various planes... Still I'd need various templates of the sf2 planes.

I checked on the TW site, but these are from "Wings Over... games"

 

Are there templates available? I looked around here, but only found the Mirage 3 and 5... I would need templates for F-100, A-4, F-4, F-104, Hunter... Where do you guys get the templates from?

Take a look at the download section for SF2x.under aircraft skins. There should be high res templates for the F-100A/C and F-100D, Hunter and F4. The F-104 is using the templates Bobrock did for the 1.st gen series

i figured out how to weather meanwhile...

anybody has a template for the f-100 tanks?

and perhaps a template for an A-4E? I can't find one anywhere...

Whilst I rarely have the appetite to create full skin templates from scratch I find that tanks are easily done by making your own templates - you'll be surprised at how quick it is and it gives you some practice.

I haven't seen any templates for the A-4's anywhere. I agree with spinners on the tank templates... Try it. The tricky part starts when you are trying to add specular and bump maps. Then its suddenly 3 different maps on top of each other you'll have to work together. Which remind me. The F-100 templates I did have never recieved my special 3 map rivet treatment....Hmmmmmmmmmm

i'm already on it... but i re-drew the lines in illustrator, then created two layers of darker grey over the lines and an extra cloud layer

seems to work fine

i'll try to make a template of the A-4 starting from the original bmp files

Sounds like invalid filenames or you maybe put them in a wrong folder, Check you put them in the right F-100D folder the different versions all have their own uniqe skin map name, like a 65_ prefix on the given maps. Sometimes one cant see the forrest for threes.

and remember, the drop tank skin goes IN the skin folder!! (done that a few times!)

so i made some progress... i even made my own dhimari roundel (wasn't too keen on that star in the middle)

but i can't get the numbering to work...

 

I wrote this in the decal.ini

MeshName=fuselage_front

DecalLevel=2

DecalFacing=LEFT

FilenameFormat=ARABIC3BLACK

Position=5.30,-0.250

Rotation=0.0

Scale=0.1

DecalMaxLOD=2

But nothing appears... I don't have a number.lst as the numbering is the stock arabic one (it's been used in other dhimari skins...)

it's prob related to squadron no's

i'm flying the place with nation france because dhimar isn't flyable...
