MigBuster 2,884 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Lockheed Martin’s Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and EADS’ Eurofighter Typhoon have been eliminated from the FX-III competition to build South Korea 60 new fighter jets, Yonhap News Agencyreports. That leaves Boeing’s F-15 Silent Eagle as the only remaining aircraft vying for the contract. Citing a source who is familiar with the matter, Yonhap reported on Friday that Lockheed Martin had failed to submit a bid that was within South Korea’s 8.3 trillion won ($7.43 billion) budget, effectively eliminating the F-35 from contention...................... http://thediplomat.com/flashpoints-blog/2013/08/20/f-35-and-eurofighter-eliminated-from-s-koreas-fx-iii-competition/ also: http://defense-update.com/20130819_boeing-f-15se-silent-eagle-for-korea.html Edited August 20, 2013 by MigBuster

Nesher 628 Posted August 20, 2013 just did a simple calculation for the JSF within the budget, 123-124 million $ per unit sounds like a reasonable price in order to keep the production numbers high losing bids and cancellation of orders will only increase the price per unit and that's a real shame at least it's good news for Boeing haha :)
+JonathanRL 974 Posted August 20, 2013 It is interesting that they opted for a dual seat variant. Got alot of RIOs they need to employ? ;-)
